God of War III » Do you agree with the review?

Yeah, one thing I've learned while frequenting Giant Bomb is that their star score (5/5) is never used consistently. One week they might feel like giving a mediocre game a 4/5, and in the next give a highly polished, excellent game a 4/5. It doesn't make any sense, you have to just read the review to really understand how they feel about the game. Their reviews are mostly based on personal preference anyways.

Personally, I feel a 4/5 is a spot-on score for God of War. I have not beaten the game, but I've seen a good portion of it played by my brother and the gameplay looks almost identical to the last two God of War games. The only thing that looks intriguing about the game at all now is the greatly improved graphics and the more visually entertaining environments.

Haha, my thoughts exactly - except not in math terms.

Off-Topic » How often do you do things alone?

Being alone is one of my favorite things and I am by no means an anti-social person. I like people and I enjoy observing them and hearing their viewpoints on things and talking with them just the same. But something about being alone really gives me a chance to clear my mind and be at ease and to organize my priorities. When I'm with friends I always feel like I have to be somewhere getting something more productive done, its a strange feeling. Now if I could only combine my productivity while being with friends.

I'm 22 and I prefer being alone most of the time so I can have a chance to get something done. When I am around friends I feel obligated to entertain them in some fashion, which sometimes can be something where I'm expressing my creativity or we're all having a creative conversation, those are the times when I enjoy the company of my friends and family the most. If I'm hanging out with some people and we're just having idle conversation, I get bored fast...

Final Fantasy XIII » How I wish combat was...

I haven't played FFXIII yet (I've played all of the others though), but the hot swapping of whole teams doesn't sound like it would really add much to the gameplay. Swapping abilities/weapons/characters would be much more useful, if it already does one of those, then its probably for the best.

#4 sounds irrelevant but I don't know how it currently controls. If its D-pad and analog do both then that's much better, and usually how they do it anyways.

Auto-setting combat moves for a turn sounds like a good idea, I always wanted that kind of feature in the previous FF games, but it really depends on how the rest of the gameplay works out.. it could make the game feel too automated and that usually isn't a good thing.\

Personally, I liked the direction the Final Fantasy series was going with the combat in 12, but I really wish they would get a clue and add in cooperative gameplay. FFXII was the perfect game for co-op, not including it was a mistake I think.. They really only would have to do co-op on the battlefield.. and in 12 that was segmented from the cities, so it would work out nicely. Giving both players the ability to run around the city and fetch quests, buy items, etc would have made it all the better.

It's so strange how Chrono Trigger still has one of the best combat systems in any RPG ever...developed by Squaresoft even and they haven't been able to build a more dynamic and fun combat system since?! Very weird...

Resident Evil 5 » A third in, not really digging it

Gotta say, your list of cons are really weak.. you're obviously not much of a gamer if you're not liking the Temple level. If you're not playing the game on co-op.. you're not getting the full experience. The camera is supposed to be placed over the shoulder like that, its not too tight - you're just not use to it, which is kind of surprising because Dead Space has just as tight an angle.

You don't really need to pay much attention to the story or know any of the back story to get the full experience from that game.

Quick Look: God of War III (Video)

@Tarsier: yes.. very stale gameplay. I'm always surprised by the number of games released that have the same old gameplay in them, and how well those games end up doing. Apparently, making more of the same is just fine...if you want to make a ton of money. Bump up the graphics, skip on the innovative and creative gameplay, and appeal to the fan-addicts. Those fan-addicts get more to join and the cycle continues.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands' Gameplay Reveal (Video)

@krisp: hahaha, even though I beat the last Prince of Persia game. I totally agree, that game was pretty horrible. I'm glad they're going back to what made the Prince of Persia games great and adding onto it.. the elements affecting the gameplay looks really interesting.

General Discussion » Gaming Fatigue?

You know what it is... you play too many video games and need something more productive to do more of the time.

Off-Topic » Do you remember things by language or visually?

yeah, both. I am a very visual person and like to imagine pictures in my mind as you described, but I also can remember words - usually by attaching some kind of sound that I will remember them by, or using visual imagery once again.

Off-Topic » Gorillaz - Plastic Beach (Review) (Blog post)

I'm really lovin' this album and your review encouraged me to check it out. Also, Glitter Freeze is one of the better tracks on the album, I find your dissatisfaction with it annoying. Muse is a f'in great band too.

Unfortunately, Perfect Dark Zero.. Gamespot tricked me into buying it, I've never gone by a review's score value since.

Ubisoft Entertainment » Pirates Fail To Crack Ubisoft's New DRM

Hasn't been cracked? My backup copy on 360 works great.. granted its not a "pirated" version of the game, but still. If I can backup my copy of the game just fine, so can others. I have no idea about the PC version, but I know you can never underestimate the "crackers", they can and will come up with a way to fully crack this game, if they haven't already.

General Discussion » What is, in your opinion, the best 5 star reviewed game on giantbomb?

Resident Evil 5, because it was a whole lot of fun to play with my friend... and any game that has excellent cooperative gameplay is far better than any single player experience in my book.

Off-Topic » How do you deal with game-based anger?

If you find yourself getting angry with a game.. you're doing it wrong. If you push it to the point of physically abusing yourself or some inanimate object well... I hate to break it to you, but you're an idiot.

If there were more good games for Wii, this wouldn't be a problem.
