I'm interested in more ME3 DLC and the new IP, not so much for a new ME game. They can't set it post-ME3 and they can't set it pre-First Contact War, so there's only a very small window to tell stories and it's always going to be in the shadow of the much larger and more important story of Shepard.

Pffft. Bayonetta 2 won't sell on Wii U. It'll be on the other consoles within a year. I don't care if Nintendo is publishing. Microsoft publishes stuff all the time that winds up on other platforms, published by other companies.

Definitely not buying the Wii U. I'm pretty sure the GameCube was my last Nintendo console. I don't see them ever breaking out of this cycle of releasing last-gen hardware with a dubious gimmick slapped on it and trying to pass it off as current gen. The value is not there for me and long gone are my days of arguing that Nintendo was the best at the lunch table.

The NES years of Nintendo Power were really the only ones that I remember. My subscription continued into the SNES era, but I just don't recall them as well. Probably because I had discovered EGM.

Imagining a modern Nintendo Power, produced by a third party, covering Wii and 3DS makes me want to dry heave. It's a shame that jobs were lost, but it sounds like a mercy killing to me. The Nintendo Power zombie has finally been decapitated and it can rest in peace.

It's not like Valve pioneered this. They're just taking advantage of low-hanging fruit. Business is 90% covering your ass. It's a shame that that's what our society has devolved to, but it's the reality we face. Everybody is liable for some bullshitt. Companies can no longer admit to any wrongdoing, because of the repercussions. I'm sure most would rather spend the money they devote to legal defense trying to address complaints and solve their customers problems directly, but there's too many vampires out there.

Really, if you don't like this, don't write a letter to Gabe Newell, write one to your Congressman to get to work making sure a company like Valve can't do this. Then again, it's just video games.

@aceofspudz: Are you being serious? A Deus Ex Machina where you spend the whole game building it? Do you not realize that what you stated is a paradox? By definition, Deus Ex Machina is the use of an unannounced agent to solve a previously unsolvable problem. The Crucible was very clearly announced. And it was always intended to be the solution to a solvable problem.

There are almost no modern examples of DEM. Every writer knows what it is. If you think you see it, it's most likely due to your own mistakenness.

The endings are still bad on an objective and creative level. You don't end a story as big as Mass Effect with a fricken Deus Ex Machina ten minutes before the end.

That's bad storytelling!

This is not Deus Ex Machina. They built the Crucible throughout the entire game and the delivery of the Crucible is what allows Shepard to make the choice. The Catalyst serves as little more than a guide and observer, similar to Vigil from ME1. They could have taken him out, but then you wouldn't know what the fuck was happening. Even still, you could have stumbled your way into stopping the Reapers. NOT DEM.

3-1/2 people will actually play this SKU, so it really doesn't matter.

All this fuss over a game that will probably score in the 7's when it's released.
