" It's so hard to find good music nowdays.  The ease of getting it is why it's hard.  So many bands out there can create so many songs so easily now and put them out independently with technology.   I don't want to listen to any band who isn't signed with a fairly large fanbase.  Doesn't have to be huge like GA GA ,  but a pretty good following.  Why?  I don't want to wade through tons of shitty unsigned bands. Be honest,   there are plenty of unsigned bands that are shitty. Signed  doesn't automatically make you like Ga-ga,  you could be signed to an independent or a smaller label.  They're more likely to sign based upon talent,  because that's what that audience wants.  Anyway,  it's harder to find music nowdays  because it's too easy. Ironically,  I just end up listening to bands who I either heard on the radio that are probably from 10+ years ago.  So I completely understand why the OP feels the way he does,  even if it's partly because of nostalgic reasons. There's a reason why radio is as great as it is.  I hate to say it, but without somebody giving me an idea of what the possible good albums are that are out there,  I'm completely  lost. "

" Mainstream music nowadays is so boring and dull. They lack soul, meaning and good beats. Now it's all about money, fame, sex and gangsta wannabes. Today's music is dominated by all these clubbing and R&B artists, and they suck. I hate them. I basically stopped listening to the radio a few years ago because all I hear are just utter nonsense. Same goes with music videos. All I see on MTV are artists dressing like prostitutes, club scenes, sex scenes and again gangsta wannabes. It's just so revolting to look at. I mean, I'm fine with having sexy scenes on music videos because who won't want to see them...but there's a limit to it. And they say video games are bad for the kids.

What happened to all the alternative and rock bands? I don't see them or hear them anymore. They've suddenly gone underground as they are dominated by these foolish genre. At least that's how I see it. Last time there was Rage Against The Machine, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Three Doors Down, Evanescence, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Staind, Green Day, Sum 41, etc. Even though most of them haven't been active in terms of making new albums, what about the new rock artists? I'm sure they've been wanting to release some new rock tunes of their own but they can't because today's music is dominating the ring, making the rock genre fall on deaf ears. Does that make me only a heavy metal and rock enthusiast? No, not true at all. I'm a universal listener because I grew up listening to all kinds of music ranging from pop, dance, hip-hop, techno, classical, oldies, even R&B's. Toni Braxton, Boyz II Men, 2Pac, Coolio, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston. They were all great when suddenly the genre slowly turned sour and the music became souless and meaningless.

So what do I do know? I go back to basic. Over the past few years I've been listening to old music ranging from the 60's until the late 90's such as Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Duran Duran, Pink Floyd, Abba, Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, Ace of Base, AC/DC, The Beatles, Three Dog Night, The Police, etc. I never thought I'd be doing it but it felt really good. I find 80s and 90s boy bands to be more relaxing and fun to listen to than today's garbage. Oh, and let's not forget video game soundtracks. Akira Yamaoka, Masafumi Takada, Frank Klepacki, Koji Kondo, Nobuo Uematsu; they're simply the best. "

Most of these artists are examples of how current mainstream rock music has gone to shit.

wrong "
playing through mass effect 2 12 times is a sickening idea "
sorry you hate fun "
fun is good, but 12 playthroughs of ME2 is not fun "
you know you don't have to do them all at once "
I know, It would be insanely difficult to play 12 different Mass Effect 2 games at once. "

That should really be the norm for someone who considers himself a gamer. Unless you dislike the game you're playing, why wouldn't you want to finish it? I'm also not into achievements really. In regards to single player games, I normally like to finish them once or twice, and whatever achievements I get in the process I get, and that's it. I also hate having multiple single player campaigns going at once. If a new game gets released when I'm in the middle of another game, I'll likely put it off until the game I'm playing is done. Depends on game length though. Like I'll fit something like running through the new Splinter Cell while I'm in the middle of Mass Effect 2, but I'd never start Red Dead Redemption while I'm in the middle of Mass Effect 2.
