Lol nooo way.  Humanity is about two raised eyebrows and a misunderstanding away from a cataclysmic extinction event.  I'd rather not be a melting humansicle once the power goes out.

They probably couldn't find anyone to pantomime the pre-recorded video accurately enough.  It's also great how the press seems to be the only people on the planet who aren't aware that every single moment of footage they saw on Kinect was in fact a video and not a live demonstration.  Keep it classy, dudes.

Don't buy a 360.  After Reach and Gears 3, what else is there?  The 360's future is just a Kinect-colored whitewash.  Look at what Microsoft has done since they've entered the console space, especially this generation when they were able to gain some headway.  They've closed at least half-a-dozen of their own studios, they've invented the microtransaction, they have the worst DRM in the console market, and now there's pretty much no future for their machine outside of Kinect.

Don't buy one, you will regret it one way or another.  I bought a PC a few weeks ago and I haven't even touched my 360 since.  I haven't played AW or RDR yet, and I don't really care.  A PS3 has almost all the same games the 360 has, the 360's list of exclusives is meager and paltry, and the best versions of multi-plats are on the PC.  Not to mention the PC is just a different, and better experience.  League of Legends alone is probably better than any exclusive coming to consoles in the foreseeable future, and you can play all you want for free.  Free.  Try finding any damn thing on Xbox Live or PSN that's free and actually worthwhile.  Good luck.  I'm trying hard not to too closely fit the bill of a fanatical convert and defector, but there you have it.  My honest opinion on the matter.

overwhelming:  MGS: Rising.  This comes from someone who has questioned the existence of the MG franchise since its inception.  On at least one occasion these doubts have been voiced out loud, when I was by myself, speaking only to myself.  Okay then.

underwhelming:  The rest of Microsoft's conference.

I got some Sennheiser PC 350's off amazon for like $120.  It was between them and another pair of Sennheisers, but the manufacturer price for the 350's was twice as much as the other pair, and both were being sold on amazon for the same price.  They're good headphones.

Missed the part where you mentioned earbuds and not headphones.  Please, disregard this post and feel free to hold me to some level of contempt for my cursory and innacurate response.  Thank you.

They moved Parasite Eve over to cell phones, then spent the next several years trying to make an IP that would appeal to Western gamers.

@Claude:
Y'know I've spent time trying to think of a situation to compare this to.  I can't.  I can't think of another time in history that an industry has turned its back on its existing fanbase to try to attract the attention of another type of consumer.  Some people have an attitude of "the more the merrier" concerning the influx of casual games and gamers.  I'm not one of those people, sorry.  When watching Microsoft's conference this year, I couldn't help but get the impression that they've pretty much dropped their focus on creating or funding first-party studio games, and are going to rely on third party support to get them through the rest of this generation while they put all their own efforts into Kinect.  As somebody who has helped support Microsoft's venture into the console market almost from day one, I do not support this decision.  I feel neglected and betrayed.

I also recognize the fact that if Kinect and Move are anywhere near as successful as the Wii, the videogame industry as I know and love it is dead.  Not in a bad place, not dealt a serious blow, fucking dead.  The software patterns that dominated the Wii's library for the first years of its release will be widespread across all platforms.  Developers will ignore gamer's games in favor of churning out crap for the casuals to consume.  It will be easier for them, less risky, and the market they will be able to reach will be much larger.  If suddently 90% of the videogame industry goes casual motion controls, then suddently 90% of games made don't interest me whatsoever.  Much the same way that 90% of Microsoft's conference this year did nothing but piss me off.  Basically, if you think that the success of Kinect or Move would be a good thing, you are not a true gamer.  If you can tolerate the companies you've been supporting for years abandoning you and your interests because they want to chase a different market, then congratulations.  I can't do it, I won't do it, and I can't do it.  If it doesn't cater to my interests, it might as well not exist.

I had a dream i was a spider.  I lived on the second story and I woke up while dreaming something was disturbing my web just to hear somebody coming up my stairs to knock on my door.  It was very strange.

Mine's agoraphobia, I think it's called.  Don't like being around people.  It makes life...difficult, i would say.

Out of all the Kinetic functions, voice recognition is the only thing I think would be practically useful.  For the next generation of consoles (especially if they rely on digital content which all signs indicate they will) it would be usefull to be able to say "console, play Blur" and have it just start up without having to sort through any menus.

Of course, any amount of time this might save will be thwarted by the multiple certification processes your console-specific digital content will have to undergo.  Making sure your game's connected to your tag's connected to your hard drive's connected to your console's game and all that in reverse order, too.  Anyways, it still could be useful, the rest of Kinect can burn in hell.
