" @Spiral_Stars said:Well, if I didn't own the car and was using it for free for two years, and then the owners said "Hey, you can still use this car, but can you pitch in for gas? Otherwise, I won't be able to pay to fix the headlights" I would be entirely willing to." @hunkaburningluv said:i see where you are coming from actually, and agree that the subscription model for GB is a good idea, i've said countless times will subscribe when I've been paid. BUT, and this is why I'm a bit peeved, we were given assurances that the user experience a few weeks ago will not change and that extra stuff will be added to justify the price. Now that's fine with me, but they changed their mind. They took which pretty much every other site gives away for free and used it as leverage to coerce us into subscribing. That's why there is a backlash. If they had said back when that we would have to pay for the Bombcast, then fair enough. But they didn't. Now they've further added to the debacle with the 5k 'deal' how would you feel if after 2 years of owning your car, the manufacturer states you need to pay to use the lights? "" @Spiral_Stars said:By that logic, all commerce would collapse. For example, video games would be given out for free because without video gamers, video games would not exist. "" @fistfulofmetal said:I disagree actually- if it were not for us, there would be no bombcast/giantbomb. "" So... basically to ensure that they where going to get an early rush for subscriptions the management at Whiskey Media held the Giant Bombcast hostage. I do not for a single second thing they where actually going to go through with splitting the podcast and restricting it. What a bunch of clever shady people. "Whiskey Media doesn't owe us anything. Its their right to do whatever the hell they want with their podcasts. "
