In comparison to BF:BC 1, I found them disappointing. It's very telling that Oasis and Harvest Day are amongst the community's favorites - both being BF:BC 1 maps. For me, DICE hit the perfect blend of more focused directed maps and the classic Battlefield sandbox freedom in BF:BC 1's larger Rush maps such as Oasis and Harvest Day and End of the Line and Valley Run. That was also before the grievous overuse of 'out of bounds', which began with BF:BC 2. I'm really hoping DICE is moving away from that.
Dead Space 2 was a bit of a disappointment to me. There wasn't really much of a sense of place. I felt like I was just being driven through hallways into the next set piece and not moving from one believable location to the next. The Ishimura, on the other hand, was a real character in Dead Space.
