I need a gallon of water after that dry-ass article. Like holy shit - why is the PR-speak dialed up to 11?
To Jeff - I really hope you find joy and satisfaction in whatever endeavor you take up next. Thanks a ton for giving us the best gaming site in existence.
@musubi: Yeah, the game was easily my GOTY, and was surprised to see how lukewarm many critics were of the game.
Also this isn’t a slight against critics, but nowadays I’m just judging a game for myself before I decide to buy it. It’s been working out far far better than when I relied on reviews.
I cannot jive with this kind of content... I am worried maybe a lot giant bomb is not for me anymore? Idk... i feel like there's some worry in the community about the current quality of the videos they are putting out (especially after the goty stuff and dan's departure). I don't mean to be hurtful, but this sort of stuff seems like it's there's not much joy to it. Compared to a solo series like Pokemonday Night Combat where Jan is very knowledgeable about the game and effusively excited to be playing it, a lot of other content comes off as somewhat perfunctory. I've been a long time premium supporter and I'm having a hard time justifying it lately.
Yeah - the whole "let's make fun of this bad thing" shtick is only good in small bouts, not the entire essence of a series.
It's why I didn't like the Kingdom Hearts thing that they did some time back. And hell, KH always seemed like convoluted nonsense to me, and even I got tired of it.
Mission: Impossible 2 is an objectively great film!!! I will defend that movie until the day I die (and hopefully after, if my passion for it is referenced in my obituary).
Wut
That movie has goddamn bike-kata. How can you just sit there and tell me it's a great film?
This game and Anthem and Cyberpunk 2077 all started development the same year, but nobody's shitting on the other games and how long it's taking for them to come out. Anthem had a short play through and concept art in their E3 presentation, and after cutting features like romance and inventory/player trading, EA put a hard release date of 2/22/19 so they can pad their fiscal quarter and compete with all the other early releeaes. Cyberpunk finally showed their first anything, and they don't have a firm idea how big their game will be.
If star citizen (at least squadron 42) comes out next year, it'll have been the same development length as those other 2 big games.
The other games aren't charging people exorbitant amounts of money with no product to show for it.
The other games haven't been raising truly vulgar sums of cash without anything to back it up.
The other games have some degree of pedigree behind them and those studios have released games over the years (several within the last decade.)
Fact of the matter is that Star Citizen has no foreseeable release date, has no clear direction / vision for the final product, has raised a shit-ton of money with no clear indication of where it's ending up, and to top it all off - they're already charging their audience for a product we know very little about and have no assurances for.
