I've been playing for a while, but I haven't joined a clan yet. IGN: ArcanRed

Hope there's room!

I had this error trying to download the HD occulus streams. Windows 10, premium paid up until September. I use a program called "Free Download Manager" (yes I know it sounds like malware, but it was the first program I found that would send my login credentials to download premium videos, and I've been using it without issue for years now). The problem seemed to fix itself yesterday, but overnight and partway through pt.3, the download failed, and pt.4 was just the error video again. I can download the video through Chrome, but I have a very slow connection (which is why I have to pre-download the videos in the first place) and Chrome doesn't seem to allow me to limit download speeds, which leads to completely saturating my connection for a long time, making it unusable for anything else.

Appending the API key to the download seems to work, but the problem also seemed to be fixed before this, so I can't tell for sure.

My questions are: Is there a Giant Bomb Approved download manager I can switch to? Something that doesn't need the API key, or maybe can automatically add it? I'd also need speed control and pause/resume support. Will appending the API key eliminate the need to send login credentials for premium videos? I'm not using RSS (I'm literally adding to the download queue by going to the individual video page, right clicking download-HD -> "copy link address," and then pasting it into the download manager), so is the API key really necessary? Is this a permanent change?

Sorry for the long post, but I basically have no idea what I'm doing or what information would be useful.

I'm also having a similar problem. For example, on Austin's editorial, nothing (including all user icons) loads except for the last four images he uses in his post. However, in this post, all but euantor and SexyBuggy's icons load fine.

First off, congrats Vinny! I hope everything goes great for you and your family!

I have to say though, I think the idea of "multiple Giant Bombs" is terrible. I'd much prefer one Giant Bomb that just happens to be in multiple places. Even with Patrick and Alex as satellites, Giant Bomb never felt fractured. Everyone seemed to be contributing to one whole, not two halves with the same name. I mean, in the WM days, I rarely visited some of the other sites, but Happy Hour was still a highlight of my week. The interaction among everyone was just so much fun. I really hope this doesn't end up with both groups making unrelated content and never the twain shall meet (except for GDC and E3), or feeling like two ships passing in the night (with Patrick in a rowboat, I guess? Every analogy breaks down eventually). I have no idea how it could work, but maybe have everyone teleconference in for UPF or something. All I'm saying is, if I can't watch Vinny play some random awful FMV game with Jeff commenting in the background how it's sapping his will to live, I'll be super bummed out.

Same post was made on the Penny Arcade forums six days ago and the Giant in the Playground forums one day ago - asked by "JennyC" in both places..

I have a genuine question for everyone else though. Maybe I don't understand how spambots work, but what would a spambot gain from a post like this? There's no link in the post itself. Would it be a matter of building post count so that later posts look less suspicious? It doesn't seem like it would be worth the risk or investment.

@patrickklepek: You've got this a bit out of order. Precursor started taking money on their own site first (May 6, it seems - here's the Polygon article about it) and only got on Kickstarter later (May 13), after people questioned the legitimacy of the whole thing. The original wording of their not-kickstarter-but-still-crowdfunding thing said that they got to keep the money whether or not they made the goal. After getting a bunch of shit for this, they changed the wording and eventually started their Kickstarter campaign.

In other words, it's even a tiny bit crazier than you already thought it was.

@metalsnakezero: I completely understand it being messy. It's just a ridiculous lack of foresight on their part that they didn't plan for it as late as yesterday. I mean, around here, this storm has dominated the local TV networks around the clock for the past few days. It's hardly a surprise. Still, I'm glad they did the right thing and kept their employees safe and people off the roads.

I wish Gamestop would have called to inform me the midnight launch was canceled. Don't get me wrong - I definitely agree with it, and I was completely incredulous when they called yesterday to say it was on. I instead found out about this by accident on twitter. There's not even a mention of the cancelation on their website. You have to go to their fucking facebook page to find any info. I guess it serves me right for not only preordering, but preodering at Gamestop no less.
