@graf1k: I'm as qualified to criticise it as you are to defend it.

They've shown a tech demo a few years back which was home to some horrendous writing, and Cage himself said that this game is an extension of it. This entire teaser consisted of ham-fisted imagery of slavery and oppression while a very by-the-numbers monologue played over it. If a teaser, which is meant to gather interest and impress, fails to do either of those things, am I not allowed to voice my opinions on why?

Moreso, that company has made some of the poorest stories in recent memory, filled with plot-holes, blatant sexism, and unrealistic characters with very little development. You saying that I am not qualified to pick a bone with this trailer, whatever that means, is saying that I have to completely ignore everything this studio has done up to this point and take this game completely fresh. Sorry, that's not how it works. They've made bad games in the past and they're making another. Their track record tells me to be critical.

And by the way, my comment about the android lacking agency was in regards to their tech demo years ago, which was finished, as of that point in time. You're right in that I don't know how much agency this character will have, but based on their tech demo and how they've chosen to show women in their previous games, I'm going to assume not very much.

I can't put into words how much I disliked that android demo. It was one long, big cliche and it wasn't even about the android. She had no agency. Like any girl in David Cage's games, she was something to look at and nothing else.

This dude and whoever is making stories with him needs to stop, or take a good and long look at their craft and how they can improve.

I skipped out on this stream because this game interests me, but I am unsure if I want to buy it.

I was super not feeling the first episode because of the teenaged BS and weird slang (also I want to stab that fucking prof right in his goddamn teeth), so will the rest of this episodes do anything for me? It just felt so try-hard and out of touch, but so many people are raving that it has me curious.

@lucien_lachance: If you crawl and stick to bushes the stealth suit does you well, since bushes are like free camo. if you use bushes + proper camo, you can be inches away from a dude and he won't spot you. For most purposes the sneaking suit is fine, but Drew isn't being nearly as careful as he needs to be with it, especially during the day. Can't just stand on ledges and rooftops like he is without attracting attention.

@danryckert I know people moan and whine about people moaning and whining about stuff, but can we clear the air about some mechanics here? Drew is trying to play stealthily but it seems that your experience with the game coupled with not being able to read the comments is leading to a lot of frustration and confusion, both on his part and the part of the audience.

The riot SMG can still be heard by dudes if it misses, and it only knocks people out if you use it like a lethal weapon. The tranq pistol can shoot a guy in the toesies and he'll fall asleep after a certain amount of time, and missed shots go unnoticed.

The sneaking suit only covers the sound of crouched footsteps, it doesn't provide any meaningful camouflage. If Drew wants to use it, deploy at night and crawl. if he's deploying during the day, actual camo works much better; you're essentially invisible at a distance if you crouch near matching terrain.

Also, he should know the stages of knocked-outedness from dudes. Throwing people is only a handful of seconds, followed by tranq darts which is plenty of time, the combo punch is max stun time, and holding dudes up and laying them down will keep them out permanently (until there's an alert). Shooting people will kill them.

Drew absolutely killed it in GZ and that's because the game equips you with the proper tools by default. he's got the same strategies going on here and he could be doing some awesome things, but he's hamstrung by the lack of information. At the very least, you should take the time to read each loading tooltip. They explain a lot of stuff that the game proper doesn't.

I don't remember when or why the tutorial from Halo 1 became such a big deal to the crew and I don't get why it's as funny as it is, but dammit, it cracks me up every single time.

Why do Dan and Drew seem to have such a hard time distinguishing between Ocelot and Miller? Aside from both being dudes, they're entirely dissimilar.

@doog: And if I'm remembering right from what I talked to the pharmacist at my work about, that sickness that you feel after getting the shot is just your body's immune system spinning up. It's basically "sparring" with the dead strains, but you're not actually sick from the flu.
