Stay Alive

I did originally put this as an update thingy, but I'd prefer to do a blog about it

*sigh*

Stay Alive is a mediocre movie. The acting is second rate (for a movie about people playing video games) and the writers tried way to hard to capture the attitudes and beings of "hardcore gamers". All of the references and what not add a little fun factor (even the ones that are wrong... a HYPER BLASTER in Silent Hill 4?!?!?!)
Try and Stay Alive while watching this movie!!!! HAH... ahaha... oh God I crack me up
Try and Stay Alive while watching this movie!!!! HAH... ahaha... oh God I crack me up
, but other than that it's just really hard trying to enjoy this movie. Plus, the story seemed pretty damned interesting, but it just ended up flopping and resulting in a B rate horror movie. For the record, I find movies about people playing video games pretty interesting (Grandma's Boy is great in my book, and the Wizard was kinda interesting when I saw it on Cinemax) but this movie just... I'm not really sure it just didn't make it's mark.

Now... being a bad flick is one thing, but there really is something about this movie that kept me interested; the game our hip protagonists were playing looked REALLY cool. It was like a wonderful cross between Left 4 Dead with Condemned, Silent Hill, and Dead Space tension mixed in one for a great online co-op FPS. Here's some footage (try to ignore the acting if it's possible)

I do suggest that you stop after they're done playing the game lol
Well yeah like I said, some great stuff they cooked up there (hell the video game consultant for the movie was Cliffy B himself)
But alas... they decided to make a movie about people playing this game... and not the game itself... :(
Oh well... there are PLENTY of great horror games after thiss.. I mean hell after watching Stay Alive, I popped in all of my favorites
Silent Hill 3, Dead Space, Condemned CI and BS, Left 4 Dead, Fatal Frame, Resident Evil (CV, 1 and 2), Dead Rising (not necessarily horror, but zombies), etc
I had a hell of a time (playing those games... not watching the movie)
So thank you Stay Alive for giving me a less than decent movie for my shelf and a great reason to bring out some of my old favorites.

Album's of 2009!

From Scorehero.com's gen. chat (x's on ones I might buy)
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/columns/features/mark_your_calendars_new_album_releases_for_2009.html

Quote:
Now that Chinese Democracy – otherwise known as the most highly anticipated (or at least most hyped) album of the past few decades – has finally hit the shelves, a flurry of other bands can now be fully given the spotlight. These hard-working musicians might not have dedicated roughly 2 decades to their newest works of genius, but most have proven in the past that they only need a year or two to deliver a solid follow-up. So mark your calendars accordingly, as we’ve compiled a list of the albums you can expect to hit record stores in 2009. We apologize for those wishy-washy bands that provide the generic “summer of ‘09” or “late 2009/early 2010” dates, but on the other hand it certainly does keep us reading their blogs for the latest news. Clever, indeed.

While January is not a weak month by any means, things will start to get very interesting come February. Lamb of God and U2, bands at the opposite ends of the musical spectrum, will deliver two of the most highly anticipated albums of 2009. Early Spring brings the release of Mastodon’s concept album Crack the Skye, with themes involving Tsarist Russia, Rasputin, and Stephen Hawking – a guaranteed conversation piece. Killswitch Engage and Megadeth are also set for early 2009 releases, while the winter months promise the return of Iron Maiden, KoRn, and possibly Deep Purple (sadly, without Ritchie Blackmore).

Many of the artists listed have already planned tentative tours to support their new albums in 2009, so expect next year to be jam-packed with killer concerts. Dream Theater, KISS, and U2 are just a few that are already gearing up for the album/tour combo, and don’t be surprised if most of the bands mentioned below make it to your town in the upcoming months as well.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in Review!

"Hey man this is like Forrest Gump minus the entire retardization situation"

The hick behind me in line for tickets was mostly right.

In general this movie reminded me ALOT of Forrest Gump. The narration thats occasionally cut off, the humor, the emotional factor and the timing of him meeting different characters are all very similar. It's not a bad thing, but while it's a good movie, some things felt rushed and like it could've been so much better. Basically, Benjamin is born the day the first World War ended. Benjamin was born... old. He proceeds to try and live his life backward. It's an interesting idea (seeing him try and endure things with his condition was... i'll say well written. The character Daisy (Benjamin's love interest) is very unlikable (at all ages) and it makes it kind of rough to watch. The secondary characters we only know for a short while are excellent. Captain Mike (portrayed by Jared Harris) is my favorite character throughout the entire time he was on screen. His rowdyness and the fact that he's basically drunk the entire time make him lovable for some reason (the other characters' traits do the same justice). Brad Pitt did a great job the entire movie. The only flaws were that he barely showed emotion. The only time he ever had to choose or decide about his life is like... well I dont wanna give spoilers, but its only once or twice. I'm just ragging on the movie now. The film is great and very memorable. Emotional, humorous, and inspirational; The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a one of a kind movie. Also if you liked Forrest gump as much as I did, watch it.

4.5 out of 5.0

Notes:
-Alot of sex... like Benjamin and Daisy have ALOT of sex (not that it's a bad thing lulz)
-Timing of certain events throughout the movie were horrible. If they were placed earlier or later, they could've had a better emotional effect (maybe even some tears)
-One of the characters (an old man I forgot his name) has a running gag in which he was struck by lightning SEVEN TIMES. It's hilarious b/c of the extra ragtime clip of him doing something... then getting struck by lightning. While it's not necessary, it is in a what important and great comic relief.
-The movie ends in 2003 during the Katrina Hurricane (it took me a while to figure it out lol)
-When the main characters die (of age), you'll feel robbed. The ending could've been MUCH better
-When they (Daisy and Benjamin) meet in the middle (50 yrs. old), it really isn't... heartfelt
-Great Movie, there are just little flaws, please watch it. lol

Pineapple Express in Review!

As far as stoner comedies go, they've grown pretty tired. I was really excited about this movie and I hoped the best for it. In my humble opinion, this is one of the best stoner comedies ever. The comedy has a nice kind of "you need to listen" touch mixed with pop culture reference joke system and it works very well. The characters are really easy to like (even most of the villains... except for Rosie Perez... she's annoying as FUCK) and the story is pretty interesting. The guys who steal the show are James Franco's drug dealer character Saul Silver, and Danny McBride's character Red. They both have hilarious parts and they always steal the scenes they're in. While it isn't the strongest of Apatow's comedies, it is a great one and ranks pretty high up there. Around the end of the movie, it turns into a Hot Fuzz-esque action movie. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it sometimes doesn't work and it gets pretty old (a good action comedy is Tropic Thunder.... everybody should watch that too XD). It get's pretty graphic but it maintains its stability as a comedy and manages to add SOME great action. All in all... Pineapple Express is a F*CKIN AWESOME movie. For those who love Superbad and other Apatow movies, or movies like the Harold and Kumar flicks, Pineapple Express is one hell of a time.

This movie.....kicked ass....

Notes:
- Great cameos from Craig Robinson, Bobby Lee, Ed Begley Jr., Amber Heard, Bill Hader, Troy Gentile, and many more.
- I like how everytime the main characters smoke and get high, they tend to get in trouble. I feel like it's a little way showing that smoking weed and doing other drugs leads to bad things.
- The unrated version is MUCH better than the theatrical version (more extended than unrated).
- Excellent soundtrack (no Paper Planes, sorry).
- The version with the digital copy is recommended, for use with the ipod, pc, and psp

I'll put up more of these one paragraph reviews in the future for more movies. Later guys, and happy new year!

Corndogs and Power Nodes

Totally watching the Sasquatch Gang (from the same guys who did Napoleon Dynamite, funnier) and enjoying the new year.

2008 sucked pretty hard in my eyes :P. My f*ckin house burned down dammit. Also some more carazy things happened (people got fired, died, and made bad games that mad Timesplitters 4 not possible F*CK). Still it was the year Giantbomb got started so it'll be remembered. It did have it's ups though (Dead Space, stopped playing WoW, etc). It was a pretty Meh year

Two thousand hate? Two thousand great? TWO THOUSAND SNAKE!?!?! nope... two thousand decent :P

so yeah 2009 seems pretty exciting (the albums coming out will be awesome and some of the games being released seem awesome). I think we should just sit back and watch the fireworks, because it seems that shit's gonna go down XD

Also I beat Dead Space...... great fun! Anyone who likes survival horror or Resident Evil 4 should definitely check it out

Oh Baby I Like It Raw....

I’m playing more GH:WT. It’s pretty fun… great setlist (meaning good job at getting NOFX neversoft… lol but seriously… some good songs in there). The coup-de-gras of the actual game is the music studio (I don’t even know if I spelled that right!). I’m currently working on my grunge rendition of ODB’s Shimmy Shimmy Yah…. Yeah it’ll be awesome J.

ANYWHO… I just bought Dead Space... Scene It! Box Office SMASH!!!!!!!... and Fallout 3 (which was defective so I am returning tomorrow... so yeah.... /sad face). Dead Space at first was "holy sh*t! scary! intense!"... but now... It's just fun. Reminds me of Doom 3 (one of my favorite games) mixed with Resident Evil 4 (HEY... thats another one of my favorite games!) and that works out really well. I dont know if this is weird, but I have WAY too much ammo. Maybe I'm not shooting enough, ehh I dont know. POINT IS, Dead space is fun, when I'm done with it I Shall review!.

Scene it! Box Office SMASH!!!!!! *punches wall* is ALOT of fun with others. I've been able to play with some of my friends and with my parents. They all enjoy it... I'm sure everyone else will too!

OBAMA WINS!!!!!! AGHRAGAHGHAHAGHRHRRGRAHAGRroflARARAHRG!!!!!! lol good for him! I wish good luck to McCain, Palin, and Ron Paul. Also... I'm with Jeff... Hulk Hogan should've won.

On a sad note... King of the Hill was cancelled :(

I'll discuss more in the future... back to the Giant Bombcast!!!!

(I'm gonna write iin teh blaw more often now!)

PEACE
