Shoutout to Tom for connecting to a Zoom call with Sony Handicam for the video and a rotary phone for the audio.
I also didn't realize these guys were the Fructis Shampoo commercial guys. The moment I googled up the song after they mentioned it, it kinda refreshed my memory of the late 2000s.
I think I recall a couple songs from this album and thinking it was just typical pop music fare (heh) that showed up in commercials and the like. I had no idea it was thought of as a deathknell, even though I only slight knew 'Exile in Guyville' was held up so loftily.
Honestly, most of my recent knowledge of Liz Phair has come from a YT video that talked about a later album she did. There are some... interesting tracks in Liz Phair's Funstyle.
EDIT: Nelly Furtado's "Loose" is a fucking fantastic album and I'll punch anyone who says otherwise in the goddamn face.
The Google Glass talk just reminds me of when Dan tried on someone's Google Glass at an E3 or something and the dude left the porno on or something.
As for Jet, I don't think I knew the buzz about them was that harsh? I didn't read Pitchfork so I didn't know about them. Are they just the super picky internet music critic place or something? Jet is, at best, totally okay.
I hadn't seen the new Jackass, but hearing they added new folks like its Saved By The Bell: The New Class makes me think there's no way it's long for this world. It certainly isn't without bringing back the OGs. One of them would certainly die at this rate.
