If you're not using Hydra's you're crazy. They're the highest DPS unit in the game. They attack incredibly quickly and do a pretty good 12 damage a shot. They just need support that allows them to stand still and destroy stuff. A wall of Roaches or Zerglings works pretty well.
Using an Infestor to Fungal a group of units and finishing with Hydras works good as well. Sometimes they even outrange the enemy whose Fungaled and can kill them without retaliation.

You should use them against a Protoss whose heavy on the Gateway units, Hydras own pretty much any Gateway unit without much trouble. They're only really vulnerable against Storm and Colossi.

And yes, they're slow, that's why you should spread your creep quickly if you want to use alot of Hydra's or use them defensively only.

It's not broken. You probably only won against other Bronze opponents and lost against a Silver/Gold level opponent. Also if you're really better than the other people in your league, you can expect to advance to a higher one pretty soon.

Let's be honest here, massing Ravens is fun to do against newbies in 2v2's or 3v3's, but a decent opponent will never let you get that many bases and Ravens to begin with.
I'm not saying you can't experiment with units or strategies, but the Raven is called a support unit for a reason.

Blizzard learned some things about map making, but they're still terrible at it. They learned nothing from the failure of the BW Lost Temple map. It was considered unbalanced because the cliffs next to your natural were too easy to drop on.
Lost Temple was eventually phased out in favor of Python, which is basically the same map, except you can't drop any natural's cliff and the middle is a bit more open.
Blizzard made the exact same mistake in SC2 Lost Temple. Adding a ramp to that cliff, would do alot to make the map more balanced. There's very little you can do as a Zerg, against a fast Siege drop from Terran, except to kiss your expansion goodbye.

I really hope they either step up on their map-making and make significant changes to them or add some competitive maps made by users to the map pool.

It's probably something they had left over from making the cinematics. I'm sure they cut certain scenes out in order to keep it flowing and succinct..

Maybe the Mutalisk scene is a small part of a cinematic they're already making for the Zerg expansion, but the haven't finished it completely yet. It was a very short, and relatively badly animated(for Blizzard cinematics) part, but it was on for maybe a second,  so you don't really notice it not looking that great.

The scene where Zeratul deflects Kerrigan's heel is probably from the same battle, but they probably decided to cut it,, because I think even Blizzard realized the ridiculousness of Kerrigan's killer heels.

First of all a losing streak is nothing to be ashamed of. I've had terrible losing streaks, but that's just part of the game. You win some, you lose some.

Second of all, you seem to lack confidence when actually playing. You say you're afraid to move out of your base to expand or be agressive. Scouting can help you determine when you should turtle up and when you should expand or be agressive. If you know what your opponent is doing, you generally know how to react.

About not knowing what to do. Just do something and say to yourself that it's the best thing to do. Even if it turns out to be terrible afterwards. Starcraft is moslty a game about decision making, so when faced with a decision, decide on a course of action quickly, even if you have some lingering doubts about it. Ignore those doubts for a while and just play.  If you lose the game, you can always analyse the replay and say to yourself. I lost because I made the wrong decision at this time,
Even if you lose, you've learned a valuable lesson, which'll make you a better player. If you win, you can say that you've made a quick, yet good decision, which helped you win the game. You can use that experience in your following gamed when your facing a similar situation. Thanks to your previous experience, you now know how to react.

Good luck.

Dealing with a cannon rush as zerg is relatively easy. Make a spine crawler.

That's right, just one. He'll try to warp in cannons closer to your base, which the crawler will hit until they're destroyed. Depending on how committed he is to the cannon rush, you might add more spines to eventually break his contain, advancing some creep and moving all your spines forward, and attacking with lings/queen at the same time.

Best way to deal with it is to just do a run-by with lings and kill his probes, no use throwing lings at cannons, you won't gain anything by that. Like I mentioned before 1-2 crawlers will stop a cannon rush dead.

Also, next time be sure to just send a drone scouting around your main base area, so you can spot it in time and react accordingly.

I have to call quits early because I have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow.

I had alot of fun in the tourney and am definately joining again next time someone hosts one.(Maybe I will, if no one else does)
Thanks to TwoLines for hosting and streaming and Pharaoh too. Also thanks to Harris for the site and the chatroom/stream/bracket-website.

Some suggestions for next time though:
- Better way to determine map. Maybe decide what map ahead of time per series of games. e.g all round 1 matches played on Lost Temple, all 1st losers bracket matches played on steppes, etc.
- Maybe make a new bracket when many people dont show, that way everyone has to play a similar number of games.
- Have more games running in the beginning, it was running slowly on Saturday. It's probably better to just have people watch the replays later instead of streaming every game.

People were suggesting 2 weeks for the next tournament, but I think it's a little too soon. This takes up pretty much your entire Saturday/sunday evenings. It was cool, and I'm willing to do that, but not every 2 weeks. So I vote we hold another tourney in a month.

Also, if you need help hosting or managing the bracket, I'm volunteering for that TwoLines. PM me if you need me.
