Good for the NXT guys and gals. I think that Takeover was better than a lot of us expected it was going to be.
Just a couple of thoughts.
Seriously, how many times is Dillinger going to lose to Sanity? At this point if they keep running with this, the only logical end I see is a steel cage match between Tye and Eric Young to keep the rest of Sanity out of the match. Or maybe just end the feud. I dunno. I can't even call Tye the Bray Wyatt of NXT anymore because Bray finally got his.
How many names does Almas have? Seriously, he's got the proper name, the Cien nickname, and now the El Idolo nickname. Pick one and run with it, man!
With how the Tag Team match shook out, it looks like both the Revival and DIY are due to get called up. Great for them, but it is sad because that pretty much means the end of the Golden Age of Tag Team Wrestling in NXT. This is no slight against AoP (which I thought did their job in the 3-way match good enough), but we've been spoiled rotten since the Revival vs American Alpha days. But once they are gone, what's left: AoP, Sanity when they decided to tag, TM-61 (when they come back from injury), Heavy Machinery, and those two big twins they like to job out to people? Ah, well. I think AoP will serve well enough as dominating monster heel champions until new teams get brought up to speed. And from my understanding both guys in AoP are pretty young, so they are just going to keep getting better as well. I just don't think the tag team division is going to steal the show like it has been for the last year or so.
I thought maybe it was time for Asuka to drop, but I can see this new feud with Ember going places, especially considering this match didn't have much build up. I just wonder how they are going to go forward with Asuka: is it still going to be the supremely confident Asuka because she won, or is it going to be a more cautious Asuka because Ember showed that there is a chink in the champ's armor, and Asuka had to fight dirty to maintain? Either way, a rematch in Brooklyn should be really good.
With Roode retaining, who is up next for #1 contender? I would have thought Tye since he feuded with Roode back around Takeover Toronto, but he's neck deep in the Sanity feud. There is no shortage of guys with talent, but no one has really been put in position to be "next".
As for Mania itself...on all honesty, I'm probably not going to watch it tonight. I'll just track down the matches worth watching when I get home from work tomorrow. There are only like 2 matches I want to see, and I'm not going to sit through 5 hours of nonsense to watch them.
