I've been going to destructoid and I finally realized I really don't like the site mostly because there is a bad mix of attitudes there. 
One side of destructoid is like a hyper 12 year old, where they tell terrible jokes and they think they are the funniest people around. 
Basically this side of is summed up  by "hey I just said a bad word I'm awesome and funny."
 
The other side is the hipster side which I find even more annoying. Its the side that is super into inde games. 
I can't tell you how many times destructoid has had the attitude of "I play inde games that makes me cooler than you and makes you a idiot because you play normal games." I remember once they basically said I think it was resident evil 5 was pile of crap because this other guy spent 10 years in his basement making this 8-bit 3 minute long game.

I feel the same for Kotaku. When I read story comments on there it blows my mind. Seems they ramble on and on, trying to prove how much more they know about the game industry then the previous person before them. There is an ego to that site that I can't stand, but they have interesting stories sometimes.

Destructoid are always blabbering on about Japanese games and Braid, makes me want to puke.

As I saw the front page, I opted out.

Yeah i get that vibe from kotaku for sure.  Actually the obviously sensationalist/half-truthful news headlines in kotaku gets me more.  I hate it when sites like that think they can play the "hey were a legitimate news site" and the "oh no wait we're really a blog, it's all just our opinion" cards when it best suits them.  Either way it helps to generate controversy and drive up traffic.

It isn't even on the internet yet. I got it on 5.25" floppy disk that originally had the Shareware version of Doom on it. Oh god. *rubs self* VIDEO GAMES ARE ART. *orgasms* Oh, hi. I like dtoid mainly for the fact that they consistently have a news story every 20 minutes (I'm looking at you slow-taku). You won't like all of the stories, but there will be a bunch you will. It's basically giantbomb+, minus endurance run and office vids. Also, I personally know one of the editors, and he's awesome to talk to.

I like destructoid, mostly for Anthony Burch and Jim Sterling, before I get flamed I will give my reasons. Starting with Anthony, I think he fills a good role for the site. I don't keep track of the independent games, and if it was not for Anthony I would miss great games such as "Runman: Race Around the World." He is a smug about it, but I I believe he is just trying to root for the underdog and get attention for games that wont usually get it from most sites. Now Jim is a joke and he knows it. He has ridiculous blogs to poke fun at the game industry and gamers as a whole. You have to take all of Jim's blogs as sarcasm and be in on the joke. As for the Jon Oliver comparison I would agree, he fills in the same role but since most of his work is written it is harder to convey that style of humor and Jim ends up looking like a dumb 12 year old kid when he is trying to parody that. I can see why people do not like Anthony and Jim, but I feel the it is good they are around. 
 
P.S. the reason "Fag" came up is because they will refer to them to themselves as Indie Art Fags, because some people have said that to them and now it is a a inside joke just to clarify.
