I had to deal with someone close to me early this year that had a brain tumor. Turned out to be cancer, and they passed back in March. Shit was/is rough. I'm glad this didn't turn out to be cancer for you, and I'm glad you're doing better.

On the subject of games to play while recovering: I don't know what you have played/what you like/what your console options are, so I'm just gonna name some stuff. I'm currently playing Dragon Quest Hereos, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm not someone that plays the Dynasty Warrior games or anything either. I also really liked Until Dawn, and that's kinda timely with Halloween being close. Last thing that's really coming to mind is Fallout 4 in a few weeks.

It's kind of crazy how we could have such major problems INSIDE us that we don't really know about. This could have ended badly if left unchecked but I'm glad you took your life back in control and got it checked and fixed! And now I'm going to be paranoid whenever I try to recall a word and find myself unable to do it. "Oh god! I'm forgetting words! That's how it all started for that GB doom guy!" It's also good that you shared this as it serves as a PSA that hey if something's wrong to the point where you're unable to read or write, then go check yourself before you wreck yourself!

That is a sick ass scar, and just in time for halloween! Crazy story, good to hear you're alright, I'll just add this to my list of "scary shit that can come out of nowhere that I should fear".

First off congrats on living duder. That's some real serious shit to get through.

Also I never realized how serious abscesses are. My girlfriend had one removed under her molar. Dentist basically said she would of died if they didn't get it in time and out safely.

I developed one as well, though not nearly as serious. It required a root canal and my dentist did say it could lead to serious issues.

I've learned the hard way that taking care of your teeth is extremely important. The sooner you catch things the less expensive/painful it will be to fix. Tooth problems can lead to all sorts of other health issues including massive infections and even death! So take care of your teeth duders!

I've had some worries myself with my brain lately, due to a couple of unexplained tonic-clonic seizures and some other concerns, but nothing on the level you've been through and so it's really great to see that you've managed to pull through such a huge ordeal so well. Man, you always hear about people dying from cancer and heart attacks and crap like that, but tooth decay? Yeah, the abscess was already there and it only made it worse, but damn. Glad I take care of my teeth, though I haven't been to the dentist in a few years (and it had been a few years between that one and the one before it as well, but no cavities that time). Maybe I shouldn't push my luck though...

And thankfully you came out of all this alright, and are looking on the bright side of things.

Feeling any better today Ian? My sister had surgery today, she was in the operating theatre for 10 hours, it's been one hell of a long day but there were no complications and she should be good with enough time to heal. Scary how quickly life can pull the rug out on you like that, with her it was cancer and she's still in her 20's so we were all pretty shocked. I was talking to another patient who was on their way to a hospice, apparently there was nothing left for the Doctors to do. Any ways very glad again that you made it through and hope your recovery goes well.

I hope your sister recovers well.

Thanks MEATBALL, she got diagnosed last March but it was a long road to surgery. Luckily medical science has come so far in the last few years that more and more patients are making it through, especially if they catch it early. They said she was one of the youngest patients they have treated but hopefully she will be home in a week and back on her feet even sooner. She and Ian are pretty bulletproof in my eyes right now, to go through anything like that and make it out the other end is pretty amazing.
