Apparently, I have a Zune

Thought this was funny.
I recently got an iPhone.
It's my first smart-phone, so my appreciation for some of the basic functionality amuses some of my friends. One of the first things I loaded onto it was an Xbox App, and I thought it was pretty cool.

So then Microsoft roll out their official Xbox App for iPhone, with all the bells, whistles, and subtlety of an atom bomb. Friend and achievement tracking, plus customizing my Avatar through the phone?
"Horray! Mindlessness for at least three minutes!"

So then later someone sends me a message through Live, and I decide to log onto Xbox.com to reply seeing how I find that easier to respond.
Then I see this:

ZUNE?!?!
ZUNE?!?!
I feel like I've gone into the future, to a distant E3 conference, and there is a business man with a black shirt and a bad hair-cut on-stage.
He's touting statistics about Xbox and Xbox Live, he turns to the audience after another poorly delivered joke and makes a proclamation: "Zune usage for Xbox Live is at __insert percentage here__."

The audience quickly falls into a millisecond confused stupor before bracing another onslaught of Kinect demonstrations, only to be awoken by Jack Black promoting a new Call of Duty that's a cross-over with Guitar Hero.

Oh, you mean Duty Hero? I hear good things although the title could use some reworking...

Well the Zune name is not used for the market place they sell movies and music in.

I would probably use the achievement sharing if you could share with twitter instead of facebook.

@Mento: I don't like the new update.

There are a few things that I do like, specifically the manner of sharing achievements onto Facebook. It's actually quite intelligent to be able to pick and choose what you would like to share, instead of a steady stream of giant achievement updates.

aaaand....That's it.

As someone who has amassed a steady stream of S-Ranks, I really liked the single giant pallet of completed games on display. It was simple and eloquent: "Look, here is a thing with all the icons of every game I have completed." I couldn't find an alternative to that in this new update for the life of me.
Outside of achievements, I still cannot get over that I'm paying $50 a year and the first thing that I see are ads. Sure, the start game is the first thing to click on. But why is it so goddamn small?!
Metro looks like something that would operate on a phone, or with Kinect, it just feels cumbersome with a joystiq. It's going to take a while to get used too, but so far I'm not really a fan of this. I guess I'll change overtime, but for now I guess I'm going to be a little underwhelmed and bitter.

'It'll be called "Axes & Allies"'

I guess people are reporting all sorts of weird issues with this new format. I'm not really a fan so far, beyond that one thing where I don't have to scroll down from "Spotlight" to "Play Disc" after it starts up. That and flying avatars.
