Dexter Morgan Versus Michael Weston: the series crossover.

I may have descended completely into madness here, but would it not be awesome to have a season of television in which Dexter and Burn Notice crossover and we have an epic confrontation between the two titular characters?

My logic (shallow as it runs) is that both shows are set in Miami, both are lighthearted procedurals  ( I am aware that Dexter kills people, but to me he runs into a new bad guy every week and takes them out in entertaining ways)  and both feature anti heroes trying to do the right thing while providing excellent narration. Preferably they would end up on the same side to take on the

or some other outlandish threat to Miami

Feel free to let me know how fucking ludicrous this idea is, or how much you want to see a sex in the city/ hills have eyes crossover.

@csl316:  Dexter could definitely use some backup (tactical support in burn notice speak), but who could match Bruce Campbell? Good fucking luck Dexter. Actually I don't know who my money's on.

Dexter isn't exactly the light romp you are making it out to me. It isn't so formulaic and deals with some pretty heavy issues and themes.  Especially in season 4

Having said that, I've never seen Burn Notice so that's all the contribution I have for this thread :X

Doake's actor was actually on Burn Notice so that would be kind of awkward.

@Absurd:  You're on some serious drugs. Michael Weston always handles his shit. There's this one time, when he's being chased by a Ukranian crime lord, who brings him into the swamp. Homeboy goes all Arnold in the Predator on his ass, making weird traps and popping up out of the water with a knife.

No one fucks with Michael Weston, especially not some serial killer.

Dexter Morgan is not some serial killer. Besides, I saw that episode, and it seems that Michael Weston lives in some Universe where everyone around him is dumb.

@Absurd:  He totally is just some serial killer. He might have a code, and he might be smart, but he's also foolhardy. He's been almost caught a bajillion times, and people have hit him close to home like, three times now. Yeah, way to go Dexter!

On the other hand, Michael Weston mostly fights two-bit crooks, so yeah, they're a little dense but there are all kinds of times when he takes on shadow governments, and he always ends up on top. Wooo, Michael Weston!

Disclaimer: I effin' love both these shows.

Weston has a team, Dexter occasionally tries to form a team then changes his mind and kills everyone.

Cross-overs usually run through the arc of misunderstanding, confrontation, a new enemy appears, team-up to face it, win, shake hands and walk away.

No, I don't think this would work, as awesome as it would be. Both shows are pretty different in tone.

@Mmmslash:
Man, I hated Lila. She ruined the second season for me, since she wasn't a very intimidating antagonist. The hostility between Dexter and Doakes was a lot more interesting.

Anyway, I don't really know how they could tie the two shows together. The only idea I can think of is if someone hires Michael Weston to track down a killer, and Weston finds Dexter tracking the culprit, but there's a misunderstanding between the two of them, as each thinks the other is their original target. Eventually, the misunderstanding is solved and...

@Mmmslash: I gave up on Burn Notice when in the first season one episode made a big deal out of if you're holding someone and use a stun gun you'll get fried as well, yet later in the SAME DAMN SEASON somebody used a stun gun on Micheal while holding his shoulder and they didn't drop at all.  Way to blow continuity and basic plot narrative.  At least Dexter is consistent.  He kills people, only tries to kill bad people, is always on the verge of getting caught, and is usually playing mental chess against a bigger monster than him.

Disclaimer: I love both of these shows.

With that being said, I never could foresee a crossover happening in these two shows.  They both have opposite directions in the tones they take.  While Dexter is funny in his many peculiar ways, Burn Notice is a much lighter, funnier romp.  Michael would never team up with Dexter as Dexter's sole existence is relying on killing bad guys.  Michael (with one exception) never kills so they could never co-exist.  Plus, Dexter would never trust Michael enough and would end up tracking him down and killing him in the end.  I don't care how crazy Fii is, Dexter dealt with Lila and if he can dispatch her, he'll have no trouble with Fii and Sam.  He would prey on their weakness to have them drop their guard and BOOM, next thing they know they're naked, saran-wrapped, and waiting for their last words.  Michael is highly intelligent but Dexter rarely preys upon petty criminals that Michael deals with on a daily/weekly basis.

Yeah, you're right that would be awkward.  Dexter would run into him and be like "Didn't I see you get blown up a few years back?"

Anyway, it's an interesting idea but I honestly would see more of a crossover with Burn Notice and CSI: Miami before Burn Notice and Dexter.  Yes, Burn Notice is much more intelligent than CSI: Miami but the procedural drama is an easier route for Burn Notice to take than going down the psychological roller coaster that is Dexter.

It's a shame only Betty White is still alive as I would have loved to see a Golden Girls/Dexter crossover.  Maybe they could have a crossover where Rose is out doing errands and sees Dexter abduct someone which leads to some hilarious hijinks and a cat and mouse game between Rose and Dexter.  The dead cast of Golden Girls could be assuaged with Rose "talking" to them on her cellphone about what to do about what she just witnessed.  It ends with Rose on the table regaling Dexter with tales of St. Olaf before he cuts her up. I smell an Emmy award here people.
