I thought there would be more actual rides. The Mario Kart one seems very reliant on the screens, the physical ride itself seems kind of boring. But the AR stuff is probably impressive in real life. The animatronics and general set design of the place are pretty amazing.

It's kind of a limit to the lack of available space in Universal Hollywood. Like it's just about the size of a warehouse/soundstage that they were able to carve out in the corner for it.

Universal Japan's version is over a larger space and has the Mario Kart ride and a slow "People Mover" type Yoshi ride. Universal Florida has more space and is supposed to get a more fully featured version.

I also forget where it's supposed to be implemented, but I've seen diagrams and even supposed arial photography of a test version of a Donkey Kong minecart ride that's a really impressive concept. Basically for the most part it looks like your cart is going over mine cart tracks but there are occasional gaps in the track you "jump" and such. In reality, there is a second proper rollercoaster track hidden a few feet below and your carts are on stilts a good distance above the hidden track but aligned with the visible "rails".

This a rare Dan series that loses itself on the lack of buy-in. As "Mitch" said, when do you acknowledge no one is having fun?

I think the premise is solid. Unfortunately, the reality is that the connective thread of the next man up breaks down when the next man up doesn't care.

I think with something like XCOM, it's kind of easier to see the overall state of how F'ed the world is getting as the game progresses (and maybe having the constant of General Vinny to maintain a sense of context). Here this game doesn't seem to have a good way to look back at the overall view of the world, review what "you" have done, and get a sense of how you've been progressing. It's just "ok, I guess I'm playing the next level on the list without any context."

TBH, it does feel very "Dan" because of how much he goes on about "do-y" games and completely spacing on "talky" games and completely ignoring game stories. But it's very clear that not everyone is Dan.

So is it actively bad or just "meh" levels of forgettable? Also, it suddenly reminded me of Back 4 Blood as something that was multiplayer vs monsters but I didn't stick with very long since I don't really have a multiplayer crew. How does this stack up vs that?

The best part when Mitch took off the helmet, his male pattern baldness still looked like Peter Weller did when he took off the helmet. So basically, RoboMitch w/o a helmet is still in costume.

Having just rewatched the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie and how Sub Zero was dispatched in that, it struck me. Apparently the best way to defeat someone with ice powers is to cause it to backfire against them.

Also D'Arby the Gambler and D'Arby the Player (and a bit of Pet Shop) happened to be my first proper introduction to JoJo and while it did prepare me for Stand battles being completely batshit anything they want it to be, it didn't prepare me for the vampire stuff that JoJo started with.

I know you said you were going for The Godfather puppet strings with the logo, but I can't help but see two crying faces with the memory card slots acting as the mouths under each pair of controller port eyes and the string of tears. Which of course still 100% fits with the chaotic backstabbing.

@gendergenerator: I wonder if it's an unavoidable aspect of how they're running, capturing, and streaming this. The ONLY way you could play multiplayer Four Swords Adventure on the Gamecube is everyone needed a GBA and link cable. Whenever someone went into a cave or house or something, the screen on their GBA would show them the interior without obstructing the view of people still outside. Solo play COULD use a regular GC controller and it would overlay the interiors on your TV but you couldn't even do two players without two GBA's & link cables.

Looks like "at the aquarium" they are generating the GBA screens for them, but it's still all running on a single machine that I presume Grub is running and everyone else is connecting to simultaneously via Parsec. And THEN Jan is also capturing the discord video call and trying to layout the main game (what the GC would put to the TV), each of their face cams, and each of the GBA views together. Somewhere I guess the GC/Dolphin audio is out of sync from the rest of the discord call.

I agree with the 3.5 sentiment. And yeah, probably spent most of my time in Brooklyn looking for background elements like Disk-kun and even a billboard for playing cards. BTW, Charles Martinet is not only Giuseppe but also credited as Mario’s Father in the family dinner scene.

In one bit of possible canonization, I took it that Jungle Land runs off of cart vehicles and that’s how they got introduced to the Mushroom Kingdom. Therefore, Diddy Kong Racing is the prequel series to Mario Kart.

Jan & Grubb seem confused what 'failure' and 'objective not complete' mean.

I think it was basically "we took loot and put it in the escape vehicle, so we're done right?" not realizing there was more loot for the main objective to be considered complete and weren't picking up on that level of feedback. I can allow an excuse of them being semi-distracted by also trying to quash technical issues and keep the show going and not picking up on that. Looks like above the objective text was a meter-bar that would fill but it also looks like it could just be a line in the UI and not an actual bar.

For shoot this is the most appropriate video for Dan and the gang to say "shoot".
