I remember playing a demo disc for the first MH on PS2 and it was intriguing, but I never got super into it. Never really even looked at it again, but was always kinda interested. I also didn't really traffic in portable systems so I didn't often have a platform it was readily available on. The E3 trailer for this definitely caught my eye and hearing the tweaks they did to the quality of life stuff made me decide to give the beta a go. I still wasn't 100% sold, but once the reviews hit and I started seeing the gifs and had a couple friends say they were on it, I just jumped in and bought in on Sunday. Have not regretted one minute yet.

All the best Scoops! Sad to see you go, but hopefully we'll see you again on that dusty couch with some questionable beverages.

Oh thank God! I was really starting to worry that I would still be up to my eyeballs in games I need to finish by the time it came out. Now I can take my time and finish of Dragon Age Inquisition and Far Cry 4 before May. Phew. Oh and yeah, more time to polish and make it better, great. Their previous games have been top notch and they've shown a lot of honesty and integrity as a developer so I would give them the benefit of the doubt any day.

It wasn't the strongest year, but overall it wasn't terrible. Watch Dogs was my biggest disappointment really. Destiny and AC Unity were disappointments to a degree, but I still thoroughly enjoyed both of those games quite a bit. Dragon Age: Inquisition and Far Cry 4 are both superb games to end out the year and earlier in 2014 I had a lot of fun with Transistor, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Infamous: Second Son.

Transistor and Infamous: Second Son for me, those were fantastic games. Also, not in the GOTY discussion, but Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was a great early release for current gen.

They introduced this companion app stuff with Black Flag if I remember correctly, and that wasn't that bad. Essentially it was a mobile version of a mini-game that was also in the actual game world and ultimately an extension of the menu-based assassin missions started in AC Brotherhood.

This is complete bullshit in comparison. Their attempts at expanding their reach across platforms is not only annoying and obnoxious, but it's not even smoothly implemented. The whole damn thing is broken. I usually suck it up and play these companion app things, it's something to do to earn bonus stuff while away from my PS4 or on the crapper etc. This time though, I've found it useless for one (money is sooooo easy to earn in-game) and the only other unique reward is Altair's costume. Not worth it imo.

At least in Black Flag, it was better integrated. You had to capture the ships in the actual game and send them to your fleet. It was also the only way to earn huge amounts of money. With the Café Theatre in Unity, there is no need for supplemental income outside of the game world.

Not only that, but they even have a $1.99 premium version of the companion app, that gives you more assassin slots, unique assassins that can have better stats and the ability to assign an assassin to a social club so it can earn more nomad points or coins or whatever the shit is. Fuck that.

I LOVE Assassin's Creed, and I am enjoying Unity despite it's shortcomings, but this is the stuff that is really leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Sorry for the rant.

Pleasantly surprised by these reviews. I honestly expected a decent to middling game, so to hear it's actually quite good is refreshing. I'll still likely wait to buy it though as between Destiny, Assassin's Creed Unity and NBA 2K15, I really doubt I'll have any time to play it in the near future.

A lot of opinions with most leaning towards Dragon Age: Inquisiton. I hear a lot of you saying "wait and see the reviews" and that is valid. It is likely the most sensible and logical course. I just kinda wanted to get a feel of what the community here was leaning towards. Thanks to all who voted and expressed their opinion.

About 95% digital for me. Living in The Bahamas, I don't have a ton of options for buying games locally. It used to be notoriously bad with new games costing upwards of $100, but recently some stores have been more reasonable with pricing and availability. At this point though if I'm buying the regular edition of a game I don't see why I would pay $65-75 in a local store vs just paying $60 to get it digitally. For limited/collector's editions (which I rarely buy these days), I'll order from Amazon and have a freight forwarder bring it in, but that does mean I'll spend about $9 shipping plus 10% duty.

I guarantee you this backlash would be here if it was PS4 exclusive. That leave Xbox One owners and PC users in the dust. Please get this fanboy shit off Giant Bomb.

Where is the backlash for Bloodborne being exclusive to PS4? Cause I haven't seen any.

I have. And it's different. Bloodborne is co-developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. The IP wasn't just bought.

Exactly. It's like saying where is the backlash for Forza being Xbox exclusive? They aren't the same thing at all.

I hadn't played a Tomb Raider since PS1 and I picked up the Definitive Edition on PS4 and loved it. Was really looking forward to the new one. Seems I'll just have to wait a bit longer until the inevitable "game of the year" version or "definitive edition" comes to PS4.
