@bhhawks78:  When did I say anything about Bioware? Their games are centralized around telilng a story, and they do a good job of it.  Rockstar's games are centered around open environments, and they do a great job of that, but bar GTAIV, all of the stories in their games have been ridiculous and over-the-top, and they have NEVER been the main draw to the Rockstar brand of game design.  You might enjoy the story in GTAIV (I thought it was alright), but would you be devastated by hearing about the people who die at the end?  Would it really hamper your  enjoyment of the game utterly?  If so, you are certainly a strange breed of gamer the likes of which I've never seen before.

Same could be said about comics and graphic novels. I've been an avid reader and collector since I was a kid. I can enjoy the Watchmen graphic novel in one way and the movie in another. Two separate mediums, two separate enjoyable experiences. "
I respectfully disagree.  Both movies and comics aim to tell a story.  That is what they're mainly judged by, it's what people expect out of them.  Games are different, they live and die by the feedback they give after you press a button.  Games tell stories too, but most of the time those stories are secondary to the interactivity.  Games are already aiming high and trying to attempt to mimic Hollywood blockbusters.  They can do that; they can put you, the player, in the middle of a big-budget Michael-Bay esque movie sequence.  But movies will never be able to mimic games.  You'd never be able to influence the story of a cinematic masterpiece.

The Bioshock movie will be awful for me, unless there is some compelling reason for me to watch it instead of play it.

Massive hype? Where the hell was all this "massive hype"?

Don't get it, the game sold horribly.  It had some interesting ideas but the online community is probably really, really thin by now.  And multiplayer is the only reason to play it, so... there you go.  You might get a few good games out of it with people who also bought it on sale, but don't expect any of them to stick around for more than a few days/weeks.

@bhhawks78:  Judging by your avatar, I'm assuming you're going to chime in with some diatribe about how GTAIV's story was incredible?  It was praised by critics for being grounded in reality much more than the previous GTA games.  The characters were memorable but the storyline itself is kind of droll and forgettable.

Convince me that I should play Rockstar games for their story and not their crazy open-world goodness.

Whatever, it's a Rockstar game.  Story should have little relevance to why you want to play the game in the first place.

YOUR review isn't out yet because it isn't written.

So why don't you get the game and tell us what you liked/disliked about it?  Only then will YOUR review be available.

First step is NOT to ask a website full of dicks for advice about how to not be one.

Games are already trying too hard to be movies.  No need to forcibly make them cross that threshold.    Let games be games, let movies be movies.  The way in which we derive joy from these two mediums is so vastly different.

I'm much smarter than Palin, and I've made plenty of typos on the internets.

This thread is retarded.
