@Kazona, yeah he said that, and this is supposed to be the last NFS game on the yearly cycle.  We'll see.  This game shows there's still remnants of the old EA everyone hated in the new EA that everyone more or less feels ok about.

If you feel like spending a ridiculous amount of money on a "pro" headset you could check out the Astro A40 (search google).  I wouldn't recommend it personally but hey it's an option.

I do not like this game.  Everything feels unfinished and subpar.  I played it for about an hour and I did not have any fun.  I won't be playing it any further.  This is the end of my comment on Saints Row 2.

Zig just commented on the news article: Burnout Paradise Trophy Update Now Available
That's kinda lame.  It didn't seem like a "maybe" thing when they first talked about trophies being unlocked retroactively.

Personally I don't care about collecting trophies and I've been waiting for the PSN release anyway but.. I feel for people who got screwed by Criterion's lies.

Maybe you should stick with IGN, that seems more your speed.  User generated content is a huge part of this site.

About Me
This is not a photo of me.
I guess this is a website about video games (a website. about video games.) so I'll tell you about my video games.  I own the three current generation consoles as well as a decent gaming PC.  The PS3 is probably my favorite system in terms of hardware and interface, and those things are pretty important to me.  But it doesn't really have that many games I like yet, and the multi-platform games are often significantly worse on the PS3.  However it does have a few really cool games on the PSN.  I also enjoy PC gaming, especially with Steam really coming into its own these last couple years.
The 360 has had a lot of good games up to this point, but the system is so loud and unreliable that I often avoid using it at all these days.  I mostly bought the Wii to confirm my suspicion that the Wii was not worth owning.  I guess that makes me an idiot.  Oh well.  I own a DS as well, but I don't even know where that thing is.  I'm rarely in a situation where I want to play games on a 2" screen.  Even if there are two of them.  I'm sounding pretty anti-Nintendo here, let me just say I owned and liked the Gamecube.

This post relates to: What do you think about all the drama surrounding Too Human?

I just feel sorry for the developers.  And when I say developers, I am not including Denis Dyack.  That man deserves all the negative attention thrown at him, and more.  But the rest of Silicon Knights are good, competent guys I'm sure, and their games aren't horrible despite having a horrible leader.

This post relates to: Will you go back and replay your old PS3 games just to earn trophies?

At least not in terms of wanting to earn them just for the sake of having them.  I appreciate them when they add interesting goals that extend the life of the game.  So I would go back and replay a game to earn trophies if they fit into that category.  But I'm not going to put in a lot of time on something just to earn a meaningless notch on the belt.

It's kinda weird because before I bought a PS3, I was kinda into getting 360 achievements.  I guess having another system made me realize, oh yeah, this gamerscore number really means absolutely nothing after all.  I like that the Trophy system doesn't even try to trick you into thinking it means something to collect trophies.

Please make less stupid mistakes when submitting content and information.  Virtually every page I visit has some major grammatical fuckups and/or inaccurate/duplicated information.  I don't think there exists enough people with enough patience to correct the sheer quantity of mistakes being submitted (and accepted by moderators which is another problem), so let's fix the problem at the source.  Please.  Thank you.

A work of art, but is it a good game?

The art design of this game is exquisite, and the gameplay is unique.  I appreciate what I think they were trying to do here.

I enjoyed the first two or three gardens, once I got the hang of the gameplay mechanics, they were easy enough to be almost relaxing.  But as the difficulty ramped up, all I was left with was frustration and a headache.  In the interest of full disclosure, I never made it to gardens 9 and 10.

If I can just put on my armchair-game-designer hat for a minute, I think perhaps without the constant pressure of time, I would've enjoyed the game more.  It really jumps out at me as a totally artificial constraint in a game like this.  Like they somehow felt it would be too simplistic and easy without the time factor.  Simplicity was the main appeal of the game to me, from the art design to the gameplay mechanics.

Perspective from a simple minded person.

This game is very colorful and there are many exploding things.  There's a lot of visual stimulus going on at all times.  It's very pleasurable, even when the gameplay is frustratingly hard.  I'm not very good at these types of games, and I don't think they're very fun.

I want to compare it with the PSN games I've been playing lately.  Stuff like Echochrome, PixelJunk Eden, fl0w.  Those games are trying to be art, and I appreciate them for that.  But really they kind of give me a headache and they're not that fun to play.  As I mentioned before, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is also not that fun to play, but the audiovisual experience is pleasurable.  It's not an artful game, it's more like porn for your eyes and ears (as opposed to porn for your genitals).
