I checked GAF daily, shame that the whole thing collapsed the way it did.

I haven't really participated in the GB forums for a long time, but I look forward to spending more time here!

EDIT: Oh, btw is there a way to change how many posts are displayed on a page? I really liked having 100 posts per page on GAF.

If you really have no PC games, Humble Bundles are a great way to build up a collection in no time (and not much money). But be warned that you'll have amassed a massive backlog before you know it.

CRTs are awesome, especially for older games. Being able to display lower resolutions without any scaling is awesome.

Also good for super fast-paced shooters like CS, especially if you can get it to 85Hz. No lag, no ghosting, just pure cathode rays blasting your eyeballs.

I'd probably still have one hooked up if I still had the space for one.

Man, I loved watching all the old Hammer horror films when I was a kid. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing - the perfect match.

And of course he was great in the LOTR films. Guy lived a long, full life. I envy him. RIP.

Since the preservation process involves porting the games to a new engine rather than simply emulating ROMs, it's probably easier to focus on the NES games first.

The Anniversary collection may have contained more games (at a higher price point), but the emulation wasn't great. Hopefully this is as perfect as the new Digital Eclipse wants it to be.

AMD has been pricing their cards really aggressively recently, so in that price range they'll probably offer the best value.

The R9 280 is a pretty powerful card, and it goes for $200 on Newegg (less with mail-in rebate).

EDIT: It looks like the 280 is available for $160 after mail-in rebate at Newegg, which is an insane price for that card. It's competitive with the GTX 960, which is $20-30 more expensive, plus it has 3 GB of memory compared to the 960's 2 GB, which might make it more future-proof.

There are advantages to NVidia's card - mainly power consumption. If that's very important to you, then look at the 960. Some people also prefer NVidia's drivers, but since you've been using an AMD card and are familiar with AMD's software, I think the R9 280 is probably your best bet.

Yeah, I signed up real early. Remember when the 'site' was just a blog, and the thrill of seeing new episodes of "How to Build a Bomb" show up. It's really kind of crazy how much things have changed - now it seems like GB's set to overtake Gamespot in terms of popularity.

I kind of wish I had been more involved with the community early on. I don't read through the forums as much as I used to, either. GB will always be a site I love, though. And I mean it when I say I love this goddamn website.

Congratulations, duders.

What did you think of Wales?

I've been debating whether or not to go to Cardiff or something while I'm in the UK.
