    Quantum Of Solace

This game tries to show the new more hard edged James Bond before he was a fully fledged "00" agent so it automatically has less gadgets and flair than the bond games and films of old. Casino Royale was the beginning of the true Bond story before he truely learned to be a suave and sophisticated secret agent and basing it on this premise I feel the game does a good job of representing how Bond behaves.

The single player is pretty average, for the most part it is just Call Of Duty 4 with a cover system and also totally new visuals. The gun play is solid and the selection of weapons is enough to keep the game flowing and interesting through out. From a visual standpoint it isn't anything spectacular but on the other hand it's no slouch either, the character models look nice especially the main characters from the film, all being instantly recognisable at a glance. The story does try to do some stealth sections in certain levels and they do break up the duck and shoot action that you mainly focus on however I found that even if you break stealth granted you wont earn a trophy but it really doesn't make the level any harder if anything it makes it more fun because you get an onslaught of guards hunting you down. Yes keeping stealth is challenging in it's own right but if you feel a bit trigger happy then letting lose with one of your assault rifles isn't the end of the world.

The sound in the game is very solid and does a nice job of setting the mood in each level, the guns sound punchy and with a silencer on they don't sound like pea shooters going off. The voice acting holds up well with Daniel Craig most notably delivering lines in a very deliberate and assured fashion making the levels feel like there is some urgency behind it and a greater goal still to run for. The most dissapointing aspect of the single player for me was the climax, the tension builds as each new section of information is uncovered then the game ends abruptly with an in-game cutscene looking like it is getting you ready for the final confrontation and that's it the credits roll. To say the least I was dissapointed but also I did enjoy working throuigh the storyline and for the most part wanted to keep going to see where it would lead next.

In Multiplayer where the game really has got potential for me, most are saying and comparing it to Goldeneye obviously I even did myself and in my own personal oppinion Quantum is alot more enjoyable online than Goldeneye was. Then again nostalgia makes us remember things being alot better than they actually were, the short of it is if you like Call Of Duty 4 or Rainbow Six Vegas online then your going to love Quantum of Solace. The controlls are tight and responsive the game modes feel flushed out and are alot of fun to play online, the servers always have tons of people to match up with and get a game going in no time. The only two modes I didn't get on with aswell as I had hoped are the ones involving Bond himself, one player takes the role of Bond and has to escape the area by getting to a point at the enemy spawn. After a few rounds of this I found myself getting bored of it and went back to play the classic Golden Gun mode which is still as good as it ever was.

In conclusion I think that Quantum of Solace is a solid shooter, it's not perfect but it's not terrible either, Goldeneye fans and Bond fans alike will love this game and the rest of the shooter fans out there really can't go wrong by at least giving this game a rent and trying the multiplayer side of things.

Plays well enough but ultimately is incredibly average. 0

I picked this up at Best Buy for 10 bucks on a day when a chunk of games went for the same price. I saw it and picked it up with out too much thought, I mean 10 bucks, why not? I started playing it and was surprised at how well the cover mechanic worked, and shooting was just fine..  past that and outside the James Bond theme it's just another average FPS. Heck, the game kinda looks like it could be a well made Total Conversion of another FPS. The bad guys look generic, the guns are generic, the...

The James Bond franchise has always been rather successful in the gaming industry. This isn't really because of the license they behold but more so because the quality of the games are of a relatively high standard. Take Golden Eye for example, the truly defining shooter on the Nintendo 64, followed up by the successful “Everything or Nothing” and “Nightfire” on the Playstation 2. Quantum of Solace continues this with a fun and promising shooter, nothing more and nothing less.   After all Quant...
