Bosses are enemies that fight you at the end of a level or at a significant point in the story.
The ability to control the direction and/or behavior of lightning; this may also be connected with the ability to generate lightning. Many games involve characters with lightning element attacks. These are unique because of their potency with water.
Bonus levels, rounds, or stages give players a chance to gain extra points, powerups, or lives. Occasionally bonus stages will play completely different than the rest of the game, like as a slot machine or pinball minigame.
Multiple fighters/people ganging up to fight another fight/group of fighter.
A crossover occurs when a character from one franchise makes a special appearance in a game from an unrelated franchise. Some games are specifically designed to be crossovers that bring together characters from two or more franchises.
A situation where the player-controlled character loses their life immediately. The quickness of that demise is often a stark departure from the balance of power, and sometimes the rules, established by the developers during the rest of the game.

Originally introduced in the console versions of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, a Brutality was a finishing move consisting of a very long combo that resulted in the opponent's body exploding. The concept was reintroduced and altered in Mortal Kombat X.
The severing of limbs is a good way for designers to make every battle a bloodier, gorier mess. Or sillier in the right situations.

A Dream Match is a game (usually a fighting game) that combines many different characters from various eras of a series, including those who have died or retired, or from alternate continuities. They are almost always non-canon events.

Loading Screens are specific screens that are displayed while a game is loading resources so that the player has something to distract them while the game loads. Loading Screens can be images, text or even mini-games - and sometimes a combination of all three.
Cooperative play in games allows humans to play together as a team to accomplish a task. Instead of playing against a human opponent, the team must defeat an AI. Cooperative Play in some games also means 2 human versus 2 human, this occurs in some Billiards games. (Scotch Doubles / Doubles)
