Rainbow Arts was founded 1984 in Gütersloh, Germany by Marc Ullrich and Thomas Meiertoberens. It became one of the most prestigious German game studios in the 80ies and early 90ies. Most of their games were developed for the Amiga and C64 and only a few have been ported to the personal computer. As of now, Rainbow Arts has been incorporated into THQ after becoming part of Funsoft / Softgold, who themselves were bought by THQ in 1999. Many of Rainbow Arts former employees and designers went on to found or join other companies such as Blue Byte and Spellbound.
