Ghostbusters
After being fired from the University, it ultimately falls to Ray to fund the Ghostbusting venture. Coerced into taking up another mortgage to finance the purchase of the abandoned firehouse by the others, Ray isn't exactly the brains of the unit but his heart is in the right place as he is always more eager than the others. One great example of this is when Gozer the Destroyer asks the Ghostbusters if they are gods and while none of the others are willing to step forward and answer, he is still chastised by
Peter for giving the wrong answer. Ray is also very well read up on his paranormal history, being able to quote directly from the Bible and knowing off-hand about ancient races and their gods.
Ghostbusters II
Following the collapse and bankruptcy of the Ghostbusters after the events of the first film, Ray gets a job as a children's entertainer with later Ghostbusters member,
Winston Zeddemore. However, he is soon called back to Ghostbusting after being asked to investigate a paranormal occurance involving Dana Barrett, the Ghostbusters' very first customer and Peter Venkman's love interest, and protecting a coutroom from some rampaging ghosts. While doing the rounds, they come across a river of slime which attempts to grab Ray and drag him down into it. After doing some experiments, the Ghostbusters discover that they can positively charge the slime and use it to defeat the oncoming threat from Vigo the Carpathian.
