Initial 'First Play' Review
I've always been fond of a good snow-boarding game on a Nintendo system, perhaps because we, that is my girlfriend and I, played 1080 to death on the N64 when she first moved over to the UK back in the late 1990's. So I was eager to see what the current generation of Nintendo could do, as well as make use of the Balance board for something more fun related.
The stylings of the game are well suited to the Wii, with the graphical style being on the charismatic rather than realistic side of things. Not that the Wii can't pull off a decent looking game engine, but it suits suits the clean lines approach. Pulling off tricks with the board seemed to be pretty easy, even if I haven't yet got the hang of what exactly does what trick, as I was still able to rack up enough points to pass the entry stages with reletive ease, and the general control of teh board felt natural, although I'm coming here from the point of view of someone who's never even seen a snowboard in the flesh.. or is that wood.. or poly-carbon??
Other than a rather stiff neck from spending the evening side on to the TV I have to say my initial reaction is rather posative. Didn;t find any major faults with the game play or the controls, perhaps my only setback was not being entirely sure where to go in the game, but I still seemed to muddle through well enough.
