Giant Bombcast 01-17-2012

One of my favorite podcasts, I love how they managed to take their earlier topics and feed them into the later topics in brilliant ways on the spot.

It was nice to see Patrick and Ryan talk a little bit about their ER too, gives a bit of extra perspective behind it. Part of me wishes they'd listen to a little advice sometimes; I'm re-watching the P4 ER and passed 100 episodes they're still reading comments for tips. There is still merit to how they're doing it though, a lot of that advice is just dumb min-maxing for a game that's not that damn hard. Plus, spoilers abound in them. Just keep it up Bryatrick!

@Sweetz: I have never played Chrono Trigger and the minute I saw in the endurance run episode that her name was Lara, I totally knew to go L-A-R-A.

One way to get rid of mattresses is to put them up on Craig's List. When I had to get rid of mine, I offered it up for free on Craig's List to anyone willing to haul it away. I got rid of that thing in no time flat, and I did little to no work.

Quick thing about EBs in Canada (or at least from my experience living in Toronto for my whole life): they aren't reverting the name back from Gamestop, they just weren't called Gamestop in the first place.

The currency debate was infuriating, it was just as weird that Ryan felt so opposed to pennies to begin with.

So last night while driving to the gym I was listening to the podcast and the mattress conversation started. Through some strange coincidence there was a truck in front of me with two mattresses and some other pieces of furniture. I just stared at the mattresses as they talked imagining if they really did weigh twice as much. It took me several minutes to realize that I was actually looking at mattresses and that this whole situation was pretty crazy.

But there was discussion to get rid of the 5 Rappen (0.05 CHF) coin. Because just like the US penny, it costs more to make one of these coins than they are actually worth (1 coin costs 0.06 CHF to make, containing mostly copper).

And the same way pwnmachine pointed out, the financial ripple effects would be quite big for the consumer in the end. That and apparently cultural reasons lead to Switzerland keeping that coin.

a bullet fired directly up slows down as it comes out of the gun do to the force of gravity. It is possible for the bullet to be faster coming down when the force of gravity is working with it.

What's there to talk about? Nothing is really out right now that they didn't cover. It's just that empty period after the holiday dump where it's either an hour long podcast, or they dick around for an hour and a half plus video games. Personally, I'll take the latter. Once some shit starts coming out (Especially in March when ME3 comes out), they'll have more vidya gaems to spit game about.

In Australia they got rid of pennies and they're better for it. In NZ they went the whole hog and got rid of nickels too. An example to live by, I'm British and I have enough 2p coins to sink a ship.

The only podcast I know of that is so long they actually have to take a break.

My father has done alot of selling in flea markets, one of the seldom used ways for a portion of the people that sell there (other than the really mostly stolen stuff) to get products was by buying the storage lockers via those auctions, it used to be quite a friendly way of doing things. you'd show up they do the open up thing everyone talks (usually not many people but a handful of the same people and sometimes a few new ones, albeit some assholes every so often.) and you would bid on them in the manner told you'd get a glimpse few minutes to stare and then start the bidding. and if you won the locker you would then be able to go in and look around (if said locker contained any mail/documents pretaining to the person you would either have to toss it or get in touch with the person to return it you werent allowed to keep them, though it was never enforced much). alot of the people would often get in touch with them and offer said family pictures and sentimental items back. Sadly because of the show and shows like it that Jeff has stated these auctions have grown quite a bit in size and quite alot of people have started showing up (quite a few more assholes being one of the largest portions.)

Tl;Dr - Storage locker auctions used to be fairly nice now its full of A-holes and i felt some insight would be interesting to anyone who would want to read about it from someone who has been to and participated in these.

Also i got a sweet ass pimp hat (purple with a green feather, What the fuck have you done lately?) from one, so worth it.

A bullet shot up will not come down faster. Shot roughly straight up, it will lose it's ballistic trajectory and tumble back down, causing bruising on anyone it hits.

If shot at an angle it'll keep that ballistic trajectory and can cause serious injury or death, but it will be travelling significantly slower than when it left the barrel.

I think I now understand why you guys don't like wrestling game. When one of you made the comment that wrestling was awful live it all clicked, none of you must be wrestling fans, because it's actually the best part of wrestling to go there live.

Jeff is a fan of wrestling, but more a fan of storylines and angles than the actual product. So if you know that about Jeff, it makes sense why he wouldn't like it live.

u serious? The bombcast is known for not talking about games more. There are plenty of podcasts out there that just stick to talking about video games, but they are nowhere near as entertaining as the the bombcast, and hell they'll talk about more about games when more of them come out.

I find it kind of dumb that Patrick was complaining about the Riddler trophies in Arkham City. A lot of players liked them in Asylum, and the implementation in Arkham City was much more varied and interesting. To complain about a game offering more content, more gameplay, and having improved upon it, does not make sense. If you want story content only, go watch a movie.

I think the idea is the the riddler trophies were a lot more satisfying in Asylum. Personally i liked the actual riddles more than the puzzles too. Saying that adding frustrating and pointless button puzzles is improving a game is like saying that buying a coat at goodwill is awesome because sometimes you find receipts and used tissues in the pockets.

Hahaha, oh man, Vinny's whole tyrade about being the dude passsing off enchanted daggers all over town had me freaking rolling. That is all I've been doing for a weeks now... making, enchanting and selling daggers. Too damn funny man.

Oh, and on the no pennies argument, they missed the main problem with it that I see... Sales tax in NY is 8 percent. If there's no penny, you have to have even amounts of tax to keep final totals in 5 cent incs. Guess which way that 8% is going to go during the round-off...

I'm not really keen on going directly to 10% sales tax immediately, and even more importantly, the very next smallest increase they could make (likely one every couple of years) would be to 15%, and then 20%, etc... Again, no thank you.

I've never played Chrono Trigger and I was yelling at my damn laptop while this shit was happening, on the plus side they've sold a copy of Chrono Trigger on the DS! I'll show you how to do it right <_<
