Is it just me, or does the overlay they use this week kind of suck? There is so much wasted space, instead of using the regular quad view the Beastcast uses. I honestly think the screen might be more overlay than their video feeds. I understand why it might be somewhat needed with 5 people, because that doesn't split the screen evenly, but it looks bad with only 4.

I could see EA announcing a Skate 3 remaster and the Switch version would somehow just be a port of Skate 1.

Batman vs. Predator comics were sick!

Funny they don't mention RE: Project Resistance. That game has been a hot mess. Overrun by hackers on the PC. You can even hack it to get access to all the costumes and stuff. Could have been a cool game but seems like a lost cause now.

RE: Vikings ... there was Viking: Battle for Asgard for the 360 by Creative Assembly.

Technically vertical rolls still exist in SoR4 but only when you play as SoR3 characters.

tbf they had Yuzo Koshiro for Streets of Rage 3 and that soundtrack was terrible if not worse than SOR4.

Surprised they didn't touch on the new mario.exe(Mario 64 PC version).

Predator absolutely still holds up. Saw it for the first time in full last year.

In fact, I'd recommend watching Commando first, and then watching Predator to see how it subverts tropes of action movies of that era.

It is amazing how flat the SOR4 soundtrack is with all the famous names they have attached, they should have gone with one of the many amazing indie composers who i'm sure would be thrilled to work on Streets of Rage.
The Retro Soundtrack option kinda sucks too because it sprinkles in random tracks from what is probably the Game Gear? It's kind of all over the place.
After playing through 4 a couple times but still having an itch i went back to Streets of Rage Remake and boy... that game is fun as hell.
Stuffed with content and all the surface level remixes of classic tracks you could want.

I still like 4 and would recommend it to fans of the genre, but it has flaws.

Edit: Additional, Windjammers is the best Pong game, and i would be extremely f***ing stoked for a Skate 3 remaster for PC, it never came to PC, i keep seeing people playing it on PS3 emulators, i saw O'Dwyer had installed it on his Xbone, give the people what they want, there's no guarantee a Skate 4 developed by an entirely different studio would be able to match the quality of the previous games, i want Skate 3.

Good discussion on Streets of Rage 4. I find that the Bombcast can occasionally go too negative or even too positive, possibly due to groupthink. Jason saying "hard disagree" didn't lead to an argument, but a more nuanced discussion of the pros and cons that led to everyone's differing opinion being respected at the end of the day. Even if there was disagreement on what the pros and cons actually were.

Personally, it took the game a few hours to win me over and now I can't get enough.

I got a good chortle out of Ben's "clash of egos" comment about the Doom Eternal/id beef.

There might be a limit, but you definitely can get just meat from Subway. A few months ago, we ordered delivery Subway. My brother forgot to select a type of bread for my order. They took that literally, and when it arrived, I discovered my order to be a plastic container full of loose meat. I wasn't happy at the time, but in retrospect it was hilarious.

Don’t know exactly what’s going on but there’s a really annoying background white noise that pops up any time some of them speak but it’s mostly when they speak, when they’re silent the sound goes away. I think it’s only on Jan’s audio and someone else’s audio...

The Tyshawn he is talking about being in the new THPS is Tyshawn Jones, who rides for Dill's skateboard company, FA/Hockey. Tyshawn was Thrasher's Skater of the Year in 2018 so that's pretty big news that they got him. Dill also says he made sure to put a Jason Dill pro model board in there as one of the boards you can choose, if you play as TJ. So there will be that level of customization again. That's pretty much all he says about the new THPS, then there's a little bit of talk about what it was like when the first THPS came out and joking about how being on the podcast should be part of the career mode, then the EA story comes right after, and I think that's the part worth listening to. It's worth hearing him tell it. The authenticity is refreshing.

And I don't know, but EA getting shut down by Jason Dill is not just like they got told off by some random skater. He's EXTREMELY influential among skaters of multiple generations, and has literally been reshaping the new school of skateboarding through companies he owns, like FA, or is heavily involved with, like Supreme and Adidas.

Other than the fact that THPS is getting a core skater like Tyshawn for their next game's lineup, I'm also hopeful because in total contrast to his response to EA, it sounds like Dill's excited to have his name and his company involved with the next THPS.

I really liked Predator, and the 2010 continuation Predators, where a bunch of violent people are abducted and dropped off on a Planet used to train young predators. Didn't care as much for Predator 2 (an early 90s movie set in 1997 LA), and ultimately passed on the two AVP movies and the most recent movie, The Predator, directed by Shane Black (who also acted in the first Predator).

(As for the "don't you feel BAD you wanted us to talk about the workers' rights angle!?": no, I don't, actually, for the reasons I cited in last week's comments. The jubilation with which certain concerns were discarded, and the indignation at the idea that someone would consider them more important than the Bombcast's hurt feelings over a line in a PR email, were enough to convince me that I don't want to be on that side, ever.)

Predator VS Commando is like Clint Eastwood VS John Wayne for westerns: one is darker, messier, and, I think, better, but you don't get the former without the latter.

But frankly I think we're in "Why not both?" territory: just watch both. One's more silly and one's more serious, but both absolutely rule.

Leaving Predator unwatched because of hearing it being quoted a lot is probably a crime.

@brainscratch: I noticed it on Jan's mic. Think people were saying it was Brad's before but can't be as he's not there. Some weird gating I think. They guys are doing a great job considering circumstances and didn't bug me personally, just noticed it. Hope they work it out but no big deal to me at least.

I know it isn't for everyone, but Receiver 2 has been a genuinely incredible experience for me. I think "Scientology Self Help" is really unfair labeling. At its core Receiver 2 is a different way of talking about mental health and depression. Its has re-framed how I understand own depression, and its a game I will think about for the rest of my life. Its also a very difficult and "heady" rougelike that's going to turn people away and that's fine...just don't let Jeff scare you away from it. Considering the state of the world and how overwhelming life is right now, its been a godsend for me. Maybe watch someone play it?? Maybe that's the way to go? Just give a chance. It helped me, maybe it will help you.

Yo Predator is amazing, go watch it. They're just overthinking it, and if you're sitting there like "maybe I shouldn't watch predator" then stop thinking right now and go watch some Predator. It's a great goddamn movie.

Predator is a great movie. The masculinity is so over the top its both hilarious and awesome at the same time, it’s the only movie I’ve come across that does that.

Predator and Running Man are the only movies that feature 2 future US governors, so if you appreciate democracy you pretty much have to watch it...
