I know Ben got shut down by Jeff pretty quickly, but to think at all that $70 games is going to reduce crunch is laughable at best. I also agree with Jeff this spread out thing all summer has really made me think that real winner so far this summer was E3.

Rare has showed Everwild before Brad after Sea of Thieves, has a weird Journey meets Breath of the Wild look, no idea what it actually is.

Look, I'm G1 for life, but Beast Wars was great. It's hard to look at when looking back like say early 3d games but it had way more story than those G1 cartoons.

I for one am really excited for the Xbox Game show on the 23rd. They have 15 studios and 28'ish teams all working on things, should be a ton of new stuff there.

The blow up in the FGC that happened the last couple of weeks is a good thing. I'm glad these predators and abusers got exposed and removed from the scene. This in no way should stop the FGC from having future events whether online or public. What happened was actually one of the best things in the FGC for a while. I only feel sad for the games that were about to make their big debut at EVO, like Them's Fightin Herds.

The only thing better than Brad playing DuckTales Moon during intermission was coming back from break and playing it even louder while they try to transition into emails.

I'm surprised Jan or anyone would think the third season of Westworld is worse or more far-reaching than Season 2 - you know, the season with I believe three different timelines and the premise of AI going to a secret AI heaven through a giant glowing gate? Season 3 for all it's setup boiled down to "AI don't like humans and want to wipe them out so they can live in by themselves.. but now some AI are fighting each other as well"

Exactly the 70$ price tag is bullshit, and I am a dev myself.

Games were mad expensive in the 80s, they are pretty expensive still. 70 bucks is more than I'm going to consider unless it's a game I really want to play and the reviews and public are super positive. 60 bucks was already enough money for me to be critical of purchases so I bought very few AAA games this generation. I'll buy 40 dollar games all day and not feel super bad about my purchase.

There are more people playing Fortnite right now than played games in total back in the 80s when the price was set.

As was mentioned, a lot of competition out there, so people like me can buy other stuff. I'm totally fine with that. Played all the 3rd person games I can stomach anyways.

I grew up eating the original blueberry and strawberry pop-tarts, which were plain, so we used butter. Putting butter on a frosted one is weird tho.

The $70 freak out seems overblown to me. It really does feel like games have never been cheaper. Nearly every $60 game goes on sale to $40 in a month, and after 3 months the price is practically in free fall to $20ish bucks. There are maybe 1 or 2 AAA games a year that I NEED to play day-and-date (like FF7 remake), but I don’t remember paying full price for anything else. The way games are being patch repaired is another huge incentive to wait. I guarantee that everyone who waits 3 months to play Cyberpunk will have a better gameplay experience than folks playing it on day one. You just have to get over the FOMO.

Video games got their price increase 7 years ago in my country. Games used to be $60, but are now $80. Now I rarely purchase a brand new game, $80 is a lot, especially for some of Nintendo's titles.
Last game I got on launch was Persona 5 for $80.

And it was the Wii era where Nintendo kept their game prices at $50, while PS3/360 games were $60.

@humanity: In my opinion season 3 is only bad because it was too safe. Season 3 just doesn't have the mysteries that previous seasons did. Dolores, Maeve, and Bernard were also poorly written this season. Outside of those 3 characters, I liked what I saw.
Season 3 just felt like a setup that lasted too long.

@maxxcanti: Yeah I agree with that. I was waiting the entire season for a big reveal but it all culminated with a rather basic premise. As for the characters I didn't really have many issues with them as they seemed to continue their respective stories. As a season it was a lot easier to follow than than season 2 and didn't have such an eye-roll inducing finale.

The whole "game prices have to keep up with inflation" rationale falls apart when you take into account that the average wage growth has always been much lower than inflation, so the relative buying power has actually got worse in many instances.

Edit: On the news that new releases may potentially become 70$ in the USA. A new copy of The Last of Us 2 in Bulgaria (Eastern Europe) costs 140 leva, when the average monthly salary in the capital is around 1200 leva after tax...

Tron is a movie about a video game...that totally counts as 'games'.

JNCO jeans are rad as hell and comfortable as fuck. Also, since you have to go to their website to find them, you can get them in human sizes, rather than in their signature comically-oversized form (which, granted, I never actually saw in person, even at the height of their popularity). They're also way less gaudy with the graphical treatment these days.

Honestly, I the more I played Hyper Scrape the less I liked it. I thought the movement was really stiff, compared to Apex. Like some weird half-step between a modern Respawn shooter and an arena shooter but didn't excel at either. I felt the shooting to be incredibly unsatisfying; the sound design on the weapons were weak and the TTK is really long.

The level design is the worse offender. It's just carbon copy buildings with boring staircases inside of them with really high walls that you can't get up unless you find a jump pad or get lucky and obtain a movement ability. Also for some reason ammo is the rarest thing you'd come across. A billion weapons and abilities everywhere but good lucky funding any ammo nodes. After about five matches I uninstalled it. Awful game that'll be dead on arrival.

I never heard of putting butter on Pop Tarts before. If it already has the frosting and the filling. What is the point of putting butter on top of it? I usually eat them them straight out of the box without putting them in the toaster.

In the e-mail question about the celebrity voice over who sounded like they did not want to be there. I pick Bill Murray in the Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Bill really did not want to do Ghostbusters 3. It seems like getting Bill to do anything related to the franchise was like pulling teeth. The game is the closest to being a sequel for the movies.

I tried playing Troubleshooter. Got maybe an hour and a half in. I ended up refunding it because I didn't have much interest in playing as a private police organization that has enforcement powers to execute people in a fascist nation. Even if all of that is covered by a layer of anime whimsy.
