Don't have time to watch it right now, but if this is about those unreasonable people who whined about National-Socialist imagery in Luftrausers, then we are wasting our time acknowledging their existence.

All this new "Um, these games have super problematic content" people, are just a new generation of trolls, who is just fishing for a reaction.... Hell, I'm even falling for it right now by writing this post!

The problem is, that the insistent whining over everything, eventually drowns out all the real issues and that's why we all need to put a stop to it and call them out.

Is it just me, or do they keep saying Romney?

The game in question uses stylized Nazi symbols but I thought people really didn't have a problem with that translation into such uses in a game. The answers from the developer seem vague and disingenuous at best, as to insinuate that they certainly knew where the sources originated from (Cold War, yeah right). I'd like to try the game to see if there is more than meets the eye that merely serve as decorative context to the game's assets and what little narrative it incorporates but I think it is not really worth the effort.

To me, the faux-Nazi imagery is the only appealing thing about Luftrausers (which I have not played), so that's my opinion.

You don't need tickets for the meetup on Friday according to Danny O' Dwyer, just show up.

And the Rich Gallup/Vinny panel, called PRODUCED, is at 1:30pm on Sunday and is at the same time as 404ing it (which will have Jeff and a few other site favorites).

I had dismissed Luftrausers early on largely because of its aesthetic, and only really took a look at it because of Rami's blog post. It actually looks pretty fun! Good on Rami for taking the time to lay out the design logic, and good on @patrickklepek for highlighting here and on twitter/tumblr.

sure, the discourse that took place was reasonable, but i don't think reasonable people would have made it that far. a reasonable person would say, "oh, yeah that doesn't make me feel good. i'll stop subjecting myself to it" instead of convincing themselves any sort of injustice had been done.

The meet up is just a biiiiiiit to far away for me and it bums me out. One of these days one of these things has gotta coincidentally end up within afternoon driving distance. Although living in the exact center of Pennsylvania makes that all the more improbable. Hope you all have a good time and travel safe.

This is a really bad weekend to have PAX.

This is the same weekend that all the marathon people will be coming to town because the marathon is on Monday.

Can't imagine the prices people from out of town will be paying for hotels.

Indianapolis resident here. PAX will be in Chicago, because we are not Central Standard Time. We are East. Gary and Evansville are the only exceptions.

My wife heard the Indy joke and kiddingly said she'd run Alex over. I guess she's trying to help make us the murder capital of the country. We are headed there.

Yes, we are a pretty boring town, but not as bad as about 40 other major cities in this nation.

Alex you've got to try going to the movies alone. Wednesday early matinee is best time for solo movie watching. Theatre will be empty aside from you and a couple other old guys who have also learned the appeal of a deserted theatre. :D

Was going to say the same thing, I live about 45 minutes south in Columbus. I would love it to be in Indy, a really good city to host these sorts of things (conventions are one of their biggest industries).

But hopefully it is Chicago not Austin because I would totally make it up there for PAX, and I have plenty of family and friends in the area I could crash with. Hell any bone for this sort of thing in the Midwest would be a huge boon, we fucking get so little love from the gaming industry here its just infuriating.

Whenever Indiana gets made fun of by Chicago it always comes with "We will take I65 and Indianapolis, indiana can take the rest of Illinois. Can't forget Columbus though. Cummins has made it the only other city in Indiana with people who have some intelligence.
