Site skin advertising on Giant Bomb? I can't wait!

Relationship advice has already reached Jar Time. When will it stop?

I like the way how Revision3 does ads, they only sponsor great stuff and have them at the end of their videos. Jeff Cannata going on about suckers and Jacked threads is always fun!

Pretty crazy to hear about all the nightmarish logistical stuff between this and the Friday show. As per usual, the more bureaucracy and top-level organization gets involved the weaker the flow of things gets. Especially not being able to get a decent gaming PC to bridge some gaps seems somewhat crazy from the outside looking in. Even with the hectic chronology of events and all the things competing for priority.

That being said, I feel like you did a pretty outstanding job still delivering a reasonable amount of expectedly high quality content with the resources you appear to have at the moment and of course it's still a very unique and great thing to be in the loop as a user and at the very least understand a bit of what's going on behind the scenes. Very nice Jar Time once again!

@AssInAss: I agree with how Rev3 does it. But I think they have to be mid video to be effective and I feel like as a member I shouldn't have to see that stuff and I think there are better ways for the video dudes to spend their time than duplicating videos with and without adverts.

Basically if they do that I'd want them to stop the paid memberships.

I'm happy enough for the site to be covered with adverts but I want all the content.

'Jeff's Hall of Fame' is his Detox/Duke Nukem Forever. Bet the wishes he never said it out loud to people.

Rev3 does adverts pretty well, Destructoid show just has the hosts discuss the thing they're advertising halfway through the content, obviously it's transitioned well and doesn't break up the topic. Usually pretty light hearted about it too so they don't sound like they're on a shopping channel and if it's something you're not interested in you can always skip the video ahead a bit (which is more hassle than just watching it).

Another good example is the "Money Zone" on the McElroys MBMBaM podcast where they do the same thing, only that's very light hearted and usually end up mocking the product rather than shilling it.

Also every time Jeffs tweetdeck went off I looked in the corner thinking it was mine, damn thing.

I'd be cool with "sponsored" content, as long as you're up front with it and the product is actually relevant to the audience.

Finding that product would be tricky, but I'm not totally against it.

The in-line advertisement is also very very good at getting people interested, granted you sound genuine. Some people that pull it off right are some of the TWiT TV shows (specifically, NSFW Show, as they encourage using their audience to use the advertised products actually during the show) and what they do over at the Frogpants Network.

Regarding sexy in-show ads, MBMBAM actually got me to go to a bondage site. Those silly boys. I didn't buy anything, but still.

I think it's way funnier if they somehow strike a sponsorship deal with a product most of us don't care about. That way we can kind of just laugh at how useless the ad spot is.

Then again, I've been listening to MBMBaM recently, and that's how they do ads.

So, people actually press the "Continue to the site" link when they are presented with prestitles even before seeing the site? Ever since I started encountering them 13-14 years ago I've just closed the page and gone somewhere else. Interstitles are annoying, but as they generally appear at the page split in the middle of a feature you're reading, I kinda accept them as I want to finish reading, but fuck sites that put that stuff before you get to any content at all.
