Wasn't looking forward to this game, but seems great, might check it out when price drops. Nice review.

I wish I didn't miss out on this first game.  Should I go back and play the last one or just go with deadspace2?

Loved the ending, I bet EA / Visceral never imagined the locater system being used as a disco dance neon light.

@Steveolio: play the first one too! There are a lot of tie-ins to the first game that make the story in 2 even better. the first one is cheap these days anyway.

Everyone needs to play Dead Space games, they are great! :)

So...I noticed this weird unacceptably weird contrivance in the original Dead Space last week. An escape pod is released near the beginning of the game with one of those little scorpion-esque crawler necromorphs in it, and the fully armed military ship gets COMPLETELY DISABLED AND TAKEN OVER by just this one, while you, an untrained and ill-prepared miner can take out thousands of the things alone.

What the crap? It bothered me this time even though I didn't notice it the first time.

Also Gordon Freeman, a physicist, destroys hordes of invading aliens with a crowbar.

what do you mean it's more than a year on in a thread that's been dead almost as long?!

Different people, different skillsets. Solidiers are trained to point guns at a thing and shoot it until it stops moving, something Necromorphs tend to no comply with. Space Engineers are paid to take complex problems and think about them and solve them. Plus, he has a heads up straight away with the whole "cut off all their limbs" written in blood on a wall, something I'm sure took a while and a lot of bodies to figure out.

Also, I imagine the outbreak is harder to deal with when the people around you are turning as opposed to no new enemies because everyone is already deceased/undead.

@MormonWarrior: I would say that this is the same contrivance in essentially every action oriented video game, movie, television show, novel, comic book, play, short story, oral history...and so on.

It is a contrivance for entertainments sake and is imperative to the way entertainment is currently presented, for good or ill.
