I've lived in Southern California all my life and I've literally seen situations go down like that with some ending in death. I used to live in an area where that was the reality. I lived next to a crack house. Maybe you live in a nice safe area.

And so it is revealed that the Interview Dump Truck has been one long set up to a single but very literal E3 punchline.

Someone needs to make an E3 Mysteries mod for Bioshock Infinite where you walk around a dystopian show floor finding Zoom H4n recorders of Patrick's slow descent into madness. Seriously, that Mario bit almost had me in tears.

Awesome content Patrick, really dug this format.

Edit: Also thanks for asking about the fight sticks, as a big fan of fighting games it was great to get some form of an answer. Even if its not set in stone it keeps me hopeful I won't need to drop another $150 on a new stick.

Actually a well maintained studio space is exactly what I would target to try and steal some expensive gear during E3.

As someone who's family been robbed numerous times (and having lived in everything between basically a ghetto and a penthouse) there's a general rule of thumb, people don't really bother to rob shitty places, because there's rarely anything worth stealing. The better the place the more likely it is to be targeted for theft, because there is greater probability of more expensive stuff being in there.

(at least until you get into the area of places expensive enough to have constant private security)

Staking out the studio space before E3 is a logical and fairly simple thing to do for an enterprising group of people. Then it's just a matter of seeing a truck with gear arrive and waiting for everyone to leave for the show. :P

This diary was really really good. The real life audio log, and very pertinent.

I am completely shocked that no one really seems to be pointing out the little detail that if Patrick is right, Peter Moore lied his ass off to Polygon in that interview. That's total bullshit and should be called out. I sure as hell trust Patrick more the Moore, and there's the smoke of the Online Pass canceling.

I would love to listen to this Patrick, and I don't know if you read these comments, but you should try listening to these with headphones sometimes. It's near impossible man. Every 5 seconds your mic is picking up wind and pops and all sorts of ungodly noise :c

Well yeah, if you live next to a freaking crack house lol. Every major city has a hood, but that's not the "normal" part of the LA area. There's more bros and hipsters here than thugs.

Yeah, I used to live in LA as well, but -- anecdotes aside -- every city has bad areas. I'll say one thing, though: I'm fucking glaaaaaaaaaaadI'm not living there anymore. I hate the "normal" people more than anything else. They're either yuppies or "organic everything" drones or just completely vapid and stuffed to the brim with platitudes and self-righteousness. ...At least more-so than other cities I've lived in.

I had to turn my fan off and my MacBook all the way up and I still couldn't understand some of what Patrick was saying. Parts of the diary were loud and clear though.
