The og xbox had custom soundtracks. I remember driving around DC and Paris to The Strokes and Thrice in Midtown Madness 3 (low-key the greatest console multiplayer game ever). Also, in ESPN 2k5 you could have custom music play at different parts of the football game (first downs, TDs, end of quarter, etc).

One of the few perks of working a shift this early is getting to watch demo derby's when they drop *puts on cool guy specs*

Man, I miss Stubbs! Sad no one has made a game like it since. The whole aspect of defeating enemies to build up your own forces like that is so cool.

The constant loading in HL2 is just the source engine, it's like that on PC as well. It's insane they never updated the game engine to stream loading in while playing.

I thought there were custom sound tracks on Xbox, I remember being able to play the music from my console in game in GTA San Andres, am I off on this or did I make it up or something?

The bit with Painkiller and a visit from the game, made me think of this that Westwood Studios made when CnC Renegade did not meet it's release date.

The Stubbs the Zombie soundtrack is weird and kinda great.

Yes, there were custom soundtracks. I used to rip across the Australian Outback on Rallisport Challenge 2 blaring Audioslave, and it was awesome.

That painkiller docu is really cute. The xbox version was definitely released later (Pretty sure it was half a year - a year later) and if im not mistaken it, like doom 3 on xbox, has had the levels chopped up and/or shortened. At least I remember the pc levels being bigger with more enemies... Its been at least 10 years since I've had a pc so that might be my memories failing me :p.

Half of the games featured here are literally lying next to me atm once again (Or to be precise: all of em except the 360 games + Winning 11 which is a bit more than half I guess haha). That HL2 port is pretty sick, those loadingtimes are a bit much but not really out of the ordinary for og xbox games. Doom 3 takes like 5-6 minutes to load on boot for example.

About the og xbox discdrives. They made xboxes with 6 different discdrives and only 1 of em has a lifespan of more than 10 years. The other 5 shitty ones usually break between the 5-10 years apparently. I went trough 3 of em in a year until I researched a bit and got a good one, that one still works after having it for 4 years. In case someones wondering: You want the one with a samsung drive. You can recognize which one it is by the disctray

I have loved the Saints Row series even since 1. It's really funny how it didn't just ape GTA, but a whole lot of gangster properties. Each gang feels like a separate style, with Los Carnales being very scarface-y and the Westside Rollerz being Fast and Furious (especially with a character going undercover). 2 really was the high point, a good balance of things being stupid enough to recognize how stupid they were but stakes were still high enough that things could get serious.

And they had some serious voice actors, even in the beginning! Keith David, Michael Rappaport, Daniel Dae Kim. Even Mila Kunis has a fairly prominent role. I probably need to go back and see if it actually holds up, but it was not bad for something most people passed aside as just a GTA clone.

God i remember playing that Call of duty demo at best buy and being blown away.

That Painkiller documentary gave me severe nostalgia for that one ZP review.

Painkiller was a real fun game back in 2004. Just ... maybe should have skipped the little story that was in there.

I forgot that Drew left and it didnt dawn on me until the end of the video that they are using Drew's account and he doesn't even work there anymore. I'd like to think they asked him if that was cool. Otherwise, if it were me, I'd want them to delete my profile off the thing. Just seems like a weird thing to do.

@daltimond: I suppose the question is "What harm is there in using Drew's old account?" I'm sure it doesn't impact his life in any day-to-day aspect, and it's a nice reminder of Drew's GB days.
