Endurance Run: Chrono Trigger - Part 12

Yeah, there's no way they're gonna beat this game. Ryan is just too slow on the commands.

I think ERing a game that some many people have played (and hold so dearly) is proving to be a fairly bad idea. This has been entertaining; its also been somewhat painful to watch.

@Antihippy: ARERRRGGGGGGAGAGAGAAGGGGGGGGGRRRGGGGGGG!!!!! So much wandering being dumbasses, so little forward progress. They never should have chosen a well known game like this, it's just maddening to watch them play this so piss poorly. And I've been defending the ER for the most part thus far.

I still say Michigan: Report from Hell would've been PERFECT. Its so shitty, and doing really bad gets you the good ending.

EXCELLENT EPISODE! My favorite so far. I've always wanted to learn how to play these kinds of games and I feel that that boss fight has provided me with some valuable info. Kudos.

Still...this isn't nearly as bad as the Persona 4 comments...i remember so many people saying that Jeff and Vinny weren't going to beat the game and how horrible of decisions they made...but hey, guess what? Not that I think that Ryan and Patrick aren't going to complete Chrono Trigger, but Jeff and Vinny did take a fair amount of advice from the comments during the P4 ER. Hell, they probably wouldn't have gotten past the Yukiko boss fight without getting the fire resistance in advance from Senri like the comments suggested.

It sounds like alot of you guys just want to play this game again yourselves. Let the dudes wade their way through and stop trying to play vicariously through them. If they get stuck and quit because "they aren't playing right", feel free to say I told you so.

If they would have spoke to someone in the Village north of the forest, they would know that there is a rumor about a monster looking like a frog who live in the forest down south. That's the reason to go in the forest...

@Jerr: I agree man, but with such a beloved/widely played game, Its kinda like watching Your best friend start doing more and more drugs...

They're still going down the right path, but they're also fucking up a lot on the way... And even though theres nothing you can really do, you still need to yell at them for it.

I think by the end this will be one of the best ER's yet. Its just gonna take time to get there.

Getting lost? It's cool. It happens to the best of us.

Missing a few chest or items? I don't really care. They probably weren't that important.

Skipping through key dialogue, forgetting to use techs? Nobody's perfect. I've done it myself.

But...

You gave up on a boss battle. YOU GAVE UP ON A BOSS BATTLE. UNFORGIVABLE.

I don't care if you eventually beat it, you NEVER give up. Vinny and Jeff would've fought to the end.

I've been enjoying the ER a fair bit so far, but today's episode was pretty frustrating to watch. XD

You guys were so close to beating the boss the first time around; I swear, if Ryan had even just been doing normal attacks to when he died, instead of just giving up, they would've won.

Also, Ozzie, Flea and Slash are totally tone-deaf, evil fiends.

Well, at least they aren't wondering around in the stone age anymore.

As a hardcore Chrono Trigger elitist, I fully support this amazing Endurance Run.

It's all about the BPPM => Bobo Punches Per Minute. :)

As someone who has never played Chrono Trigger, I really don't like the sections where it just dumps you on the overworld with no sense of direction. Having to just blindly search every building on the map for something to do doesn't seem very fun.

the most annying thing is you know you want to yell at them where to go, but you know it's futile since this was recorded last week -__-.

Nothing stops the Endurance Run!

@Milkman: As someone who remembers playing Chrono Trigger for the first time, I remember thinking: 'Oh, hey, that blacksmith dude from earlier would probably be a good guy to go to with this broken sword.'

I used Lightning and then Ice Tackle (Robo + Marle), and it did like 600 damage. Even then it was a difficult fight.

Nothing more frustrating that just sitting there on that selection screen while the boss is attacking away freely. Also, BUCCA NEEDS TO LEARN MAGIC.

"Man, that active battle mode, you actually gotta, like, focus on what you're doing. VIDEO GAMES."

They did 3071 damage before giving-up on the boss. Masamune has 3600 HP. It would have been close. They would have ended using up a lot more resources. Not making an argument for or against.

I really wished they played for more than 30 mins a day.

This is still good. It's nice to have new content up every morning. I do fast forward tho when they repeat stuff & Ryan sucking at the game is losing a bit of charm at this point, but I think he will turn it around.

Ryan and Patrick's ability to go absolutely everywhere, except for the one place they are supposed to go is amazing...

It was super depressing when they just stopped attacking. Why would they do that?!

This endurance run would be a lot better if there wasn't so much directionless bumbling going on.And it should be at least an hour. It's really annoying getting cut off so abruptly, especially after all of the bumbling.

e: I will say, Patrick is consistently and intensely wrong about game mechanics; it just adds to the flavor of it all I suppose.

I think it took me like five tries to beat this boss. I guess everyone else beat every boss the first time they fought them? Not really sure how you guys knew the pattern before you'd even seen it.

I don't know if Patrick and Ryan read these comments but if they do here's a heads up, in the woods your about to go in Brogs home is very easily missed as there is a ladder that heads down underground but it's hidden behind a small bush at the top of the woods, I hope they do read this other wise we are going to see 30 mins or so of them just wondering around in circles in the next episode.

aaaagh, I'm really enjoying the new Endurance Run, mistakes and all. But it is killing me inside, just a little bit, that they haven't taught Lucca magic. And haven't noticed.

All I want to see is some Antipode action!

As someone who knows a lot about the game, let me say that you are totally right. There are so many moments early game where the game gives you no direction, and people in these comments seem to keep forgetting it. It's the one serious flaw about this game.

@MasturbatingestBear: I just recently got the game from Virtual Console and had zero problems regarding this. You have just to check out the nearest dwelling or NPC to get some not so subtle hints about where to continue next. When you are dumped in a new period just head to the next house and you are set.

Man, I love the music in this game.

elitists shut the fuck up and let them play, u dont have to watch the ER u know,

I normally wouldn't say anything about the skill of the people playing these games but I can tell that even Patrick is starting to get a little annoyed with Ryan's play style. I'll just sympathize with Patrick here.

How jaded do you have to be to live in Kingly times and not freak the fuck out when you see a robot from the future? Forget about not letting him sleep in a bed, I'm surprised they don't try to kill him with torches and pitchforks.
