I'm enjoying the endurance run!

@denshuu: I remember that as well. Perhaps it happens in the PS1/DS version of the game? I played the original, but finish the DS version a year or so ago. So I'm probably not going to remember clearly if it happened the original or the DS version.

I think they might be having video problems on their end. Maybe their game is rendering at an extremely low resolution, or text is being cut off or something. They miss extremely obvious things, to the point where it can't just be the result of not paying attention. I'm not just being snide - I think that would explain why they seem to never read important text during boss battles or whatnot.

@RockmanBionics: I supposed that makes sense. But for thematic reasons all of Medina 600 AD should speak that way. I get they are trying to portray Cyan and Frog as chivalrous knights, but being the only people to have such accents is silly.

@Skanker: That doesn't explain Cyan that well. He's just kind of a dude.

Wasn't there a scene after Glenn falls off the cliff where he's lying face down in the river, and the hero medal floats down towards him? Was that only in certain versions or something? Could've sworn that happened during that flashback sequence.

Playing the PSN version aka. the PSone version it shows Brog lying on the ground and the hero medal washes ashore next to him. Shame that this version doesn't show that.

Also no anime cutscenes for the SNES but thats less important and kind of redundant considering they just show the in-game cut scene right after the anime one showing the exact same thing.

We all need a cave bitch. Every Batrick says: "Crit" I can't help imagine he's talking with a Japanese accent...

Well, now that the bawdiness is out of the way, we can at least learn how not to conduct an RPG boss fight... That cut scene was nice. I like these old games because there's no difference between the gameplay and the "cinematics". It feels more authentic then a game with ultra-rendered cut scenes with voice acting and the whole nine yards then returns you to your pixelated 2D sprite in a world that looks nothing like the awesome cut scene. Neat, an origin story: Brog use to be a warrior named Blenn and his friend Byrus was immolated in front of his very eyes. I bet that comes back later and I hope Brog gets revenge on that motherfucker Bzzie.

It's called an endurance run. Part of the endurance is us having to endure the GB crew screwing up, time and time again.

If you can't deal with that, I can't imagine how you would survive the Persona 4 ER.

They figured that Brono, Brog and Bobo make for a great party.

They remembered to go back right away and get Brog his magic.

... I honestly believe they're good from here on out, no matter how much they screw up, to be able to beat the game without a lot of trouble.

That was always my favorite party for the great healing options and to get a triple tech so early in the game, you can just mostly go with them and max them out. And as long as they go with them long enough, they'll get their heal-all single techs and hopefully they'll figure to have at least one of them in their party at all times.

As someone who played A TON of Persona 4 even before I checked out the P4 ER, I thought Jeff and Vinny did a pretty good job.

The only thing I really wish they would've done was finish Kanji's social link, but otherwise they leveled up all the social links they could and made up for where they lacked in persona fusion with good battle strategy.

@DonChipotle: To be fair, Patrick tried to tell him that Brono + Barle = Aura Whirl, but Ryan just kept talking to himself and didn't even hear it. Not that it would've mattered, 'cause they were already in the fight. I think Ryan was just being so goddamned adamant that Bobo + Barle was the only way to get a group heal that Patrick was momentarily browbeaten into forgetting about it, which is why he didn't speak up sooner.

Patrick knows more than he's letting on given the fact that he called out Aura Whirl while they weren't looking at the techs. He also knew about the lightning several episodes ago and pointed it out, but Ryan ignored him/wasn't paying attention. It seems like he'll jump in with critical info if Ryan really needs it.

They have a trigger a event that happens next. Can't blame them for being confused. This is probably one of the more poorly designed part of the game as far as direction goes.

So excited for the Magus fight. Love that intro.

I agree. Easily one of the best parts of this (or any) game in my opinion. They're probably gonna spend a week going through the castle though. It's a pretty long and battle heavy dungeon.

However, I don't look forward to seeing Ryan fumble around in the battles vs the Jugglers. You never know though, he just might surprise us.

Oh shit, I forgot about the Jugglers. Maannnn...I hope they don't quit the ER before they get to Magus... :(

Has anyone noticed that Patrick seems to have become a lot smarter about what to do these last couple of episodes? He seems to know where to go and what to do better than the last couple of weeks. I'm thinking that either he always understood what to do and was letting Ryan call most of the shots until now or he skimmed a walk-through or something.

So what you're saying is that you don't enjoy the Endurance Run when they succeed. Fantastic. The Endurance Runs were never about how they play the game. It's about the commentary. Funny Giant Bomb commentary on a good run through the game would still be enjoyable, even if they're not screwing up.

It seems useless to put a hint post here but I'll do it anyway just in case Patrick is skimming this.

A: Take Brog to see Spekkio and unlock his magic before you do anything or else the next stretch of gameplay is going to be hell.

B: Read the battle messages more closely. The lightning gimmick you saw with Rocksteady is just the tip of the iceberg.

C: Stock up on equipment and items. The next dungeon is EXTREMELY long.

No, I think they just realized that someone should pay attention to the game, and it sure wasn't going to be Ryan. Reading a Walkthrough is really unnnecessary since the game tells you exactly what to do all the time, you just need to pay attetntion.

Right at the end of the video Ryan briefly alluded to needing to bring Frog back to the End of Time to get him magic'd up. Will be interesting to see if they actually follow through. Fortunately, I kinda think they're lost at this point, or at the very least don't know to go to the cave on the far east side of the continent, so they'll probably end up heading to the End of Time to talk to Gaspar.
