@bluecollaralaskan: I don't think this is a normal situation. Seeing as though Ryan is playing and Patrick is there for commentary to keep the dead noise down, he is supposed to be a backseat driver. Ryan could very easily just play the game by himself, so I imagine that Patrick is more or less expected to say something concerning the game at almost all times, or else he just wouldn't be there. Try to think of him as a less annoying John Madden, haha.

To all those saying "Don't take it seriously, Just enjoy the show." People aren't angry that they are messing up but that fact that they are blaming the game rather then seeing their own faults. A lot of the problems in their run are no fault but their own. Yes the game lacks some description at times but many things are painfully obvious and they ignore it or just plain forget things. I mean here they are in need of serious healing powers and ignore the fact that one of the other characters is the best healer in the game (Barle). Replace Brog with her and this area would be ALOT easier. The fact they are so fixated with this team they have going and yet blame the game is showing how much they just don't care to experiment. They are basically not going to be able to do many of the side-quests because they wont be presented to them without the proper characters in their party.

This. It just seems kinda shitty to me that the guys would be this flippant with the 20+ hours they're going to spend with a great retro game, but shit on it like they do tons of other titles, despite its pedigree.

Patrick said: "Oh JRPGs, this is why no one likes you." Maybe I don't need to, but I'll remind you when he said this; Epoch gets wings, can fly/travel through time, and Ryan & Patrick start walking through areas with the most forced encounters to date, whining the entire time. Ryan also mistakes a portal he has walked out of not so long ago as having "disappeared," failing to notice the presence of a door to the portal room a mere 20 pixels above him, then proceeds to blame the game for making him trudge through yet more lab..

My point being, I'm not completely sure I should be trusting their reviews, especially as someone who has a pretty long attention span, and someone who can enjoy problem solving (when a necessary facet of a game). Lately, they really do seem to have an unnatural focus on the cons of a game outweighing its pros in 90% of cases, so maybe I need to reconsider how much to take with a grain of salt when I listen to Ryan or Patrick to make renting/buying choices. The negativity with which they speak about a title may just be unintentional misinformation because of some kind of ADD.

Shit. I miss 1UP Yours.

Dear lord people. Lighten up. Seriously.

ok, to be more exact... to suggest that the playing style of the endurance run has anything to do with their review process is pretty weird to me. They aren't reviewing this game, simply playing it (and we get to watch). To make the huge swing to connect the two just doesn't make sense to me, and at this point it seems like people are trying really hard to find things to complain about. So yea, lighten up, life's too short.

Well, that's kinda obvious. But man is it hilarious watching Ryan ignore perfectly sensible, logical, tactical advice in favor of "Spin Cut that bitch." I laugh every time.

Judging by these comments, It's probably a good thing that Ryan and Patrick don't read them. Part of the fun of a game is figuring it out. That's what this is about. It's easy to see where they could play better. Of course it is. Every look at a rough draft or a rough cut of anything? What seems obvious in retrospect or glaring from another perspective can be perfectly invisible when you're right up against it. I want to scream through the screen too. But it's their game and their experience. Let them figure it out.

Man I wish I could be as easily amused as you

No really, life would be so much better if literally the dumbest shit was hilarious

Yes and we get to see how quickly they devolve when faced with a problem and blame the game/genre. I think they were doing great(relatively so) until like half a dozen quick looks back, and then the fucking Undersea Palace showed just how little they were paying attention to, well, anything. But hey whatever pops your pupae

I wouldn't be worried about it, if I didn't notice an alarmingly huge number of times I've heard Ryan and Jeff saying "I don't like ______," about damn near everything. I guess I can trust Jeff with that though, but Ryan and Patrick? Not so much after this.

Ryan very obviously does not care about playing this game. You might be fooled by the "YEAH!"s and what-have-you because he is a good presenter, but he just gives not a single fuck, and it's really become apparent within the last few episodes. It's unfortunate, it is.

This is what I'm feeling, I think they need to admit when a game has them beat down, take a break from it and come back when they might enjoy it more themselves. It might defeat the purpose of an Endurance Run, but the entertainment value has suffered, yet I'm invested, so I'll keep watching. I love the Bomb Squad, I don't trust any group of professionals' opinions more when it comes to the medium, but they're at their best when they're enjoying themselves.

I know I'm guilty of bitching when they make stupid mistakes, but you people trying to say that this reflects badly on them as game reviewers are wrong. straight up. the endurance run isn't intended to be some sort of professional process. it's meant to be silly and kind of dumb.

in case if you didn't notice, they're barely paying attention a lot of the time. they wouldn't be doing so if they were reviewing a new game, which they do on their own, off-camera, and without making jokes every few seconds. this game is ancient, and if you don't like that they're not taking it very seriously, too bad.

they still seem to be having fun, anyways.

I wish they would of used cure 2 during that fight at least once or that bobo and brog dual that heals everybody to full. But nvm, also they keep leaving gear on characters, I'm not sure if magus had anything good on him except that dmg thing. Man if I would of played this game i would of used that sight scope all the time, I hate being in the dark with how much HP stuff has it's annoying as shit.

I am eternally thankful I don't have to play games with other people watching me terribly often, because I'm usually so distracted talking to someone else in the room that I play horribly.

@captaininvictus: I think you're confusing disinterest with having a casual approach to their recorded jrpg experience. He seems into it, and I don't blame him for not being 100% in the game.

While I agree that Robo and Frog are awesome, it's kind of unfortunate how little they used the other characters once they had access to all of them. I certainly had a favourite lineup, but especially once I maxed out their techs, I switched to some other team combos to try them out.

Frankly, I've never been crazy about Lucca. But Ayla has some cool Dual and Triple Techs, as does Marle. Also if you have Marle in your party during plot events, there are a bunch of story moments that end up being really sweet. Largely around Crono's death and then salvation.

@bisonhero:

It kinda is a bit limiting that Robo is the only guy who has a decent heal all single tech, least as far as I've seen. Though I fucking love the guy and am glad to have an excuse to use him I would like to have a few more viable party options.

I've used a fair amount of Ayla and Marle at this point and they have fought very well, and I'll be training up Lucca afterwards, she seems alright. Though without a heal or haste she definitely isn't as useful a magic caster as Marle and it kinda seems tough to find an excuse to stick her in the party.

Thinking about it - it must have been a real bummer for Bagus to spend all that time ninja-logging Brono out of there only to have to leave Schala behind again.
