I've tried, but I am just not feeling this at all. Chrono Trigger lacks pretty much everything that made the first two endurance runs great.

Including support from the GB community.

we will see...Cant think of many other games that would be good ER candidates,,,,Mayber FF9 or 10

FF9 would be great. My favourite FF game.

EDIT: Scratch that, read it as FF8 for some reason. FF8 is my fav one :) Never played 9, skipped it for some reason, is it worth going back to?

@Splodge: Absolutely. It's probably my favorite in the series. It's full of great callbacks to previous games, has wonderful music, some of the best characters the series has had in a while, great combat...the list goes on

Cool. I have thought of checking it out for a while. FF8 was just so god damn good to me that at the time I was on FF overload and could not play another for a while. Then I forgot, and for some reason played FF 10, which I did not really enjoy. I found all the characters annoying. Sounds like something someone could get over, but the feeling persisted and I stopped playing halfway through.

Yip, its got a very light hearted story and world (at first anyway), basic snes style fighting system, you could even co-op the fights with a friend on the PS1 and have each of you control 2 fighters out of the 4 plus it has a evolution of the FF8 card game. My favourite of the series I went back and played it 2 years ago on PSP and it holds up real well.

Man, sounds like the Endurance Run is taking its toll on Bryan and Batrick. The Tyrano Lair is weird; I kept hearing sound effects and music being repeated but it wasn't nice to listen to.

I think if they don't learn how to handle the bosses they'll probably just stop the Endurance Run.

Have you been watching any of this Endurance Run? Ryan still forgets there is a 'run' button, takes half a day to decide which low level tech to use, uses a 'heal all for small amount' spell when only one person is alive, still fumbles his way through every menu in the game...

Ryan barely has any concept of what is happening on the screen. Patrick may be annoying at times but at least he has some grasp of the game.

Well you see. There is a reason they didn't ER Catherine since that also seemed like a candidate. Jeff has explicitly said they won't be doing another Atlus game.

But Catherine was just a bad game a endurance run of a puzzle game would kinda suck, i think they should stick to RPGS.

Heh yeah people seem annoyed with Patrick, but I do think its genuinely necessary. I used to have to run wing-man for my best friend when I was young while he fumbled his way through Breath of Fire III. We might all consider ourselves amazing at these games in retrospect, but it can be tough playing them by yourself when you get stuck on something. Having a voice in your ear keeping you on track can really help. Or make you punch that voice in the face. Either way, videogames.

Hm. I'm thinking maybe the MP saving accessory would be best on Brono. Seems like they're always using ethers on him.

And that was a weird cut at the end. Usually the ER always fades to black, right?

Did they use Luminaire against things with high magic defense?

I'm worried they'll ignore it as a bad spell when it's not.

To be honest what else is new, I will finish watching this endurance run but I don't think I could endure another one with Ryan and Patrick. For someone who keeps saying he likes to play rpg's and with him having played it before Patrick sure is slow at grasping the basics of this game, that combined with Ryan's unwillingness to read and his willingness to just brute force makes this ER difficult for me.

I always thought that any one of the Yakuza games would make a good endurance run. They look story driven and pretty quirky and I don't ever plan to play any of them for myself.

Both the QL of the demo and the QL of the game are really funny.

4 would probably be really good if they did anything along those lines. The story is ridiculously melodramatic and by the 4th act has gone complete sideways just so they can get the main guy into a story where he really has no purpose. Of course, I can see the comments being about 85% complaining about the guys not doing the sidequests since they do bury them pretty well within the actual game. Hell, I missed out on most of the ones in the second act since you had to seek them out instead of just going from mission to mission. Had a really good time with the game but that the story is ridiculous.

Oh man, it's so funny that after 17-ish hours they still literally have NO IDEA how this game works.

I also find strange pleasure in watching them get destroyed on this side content. :)

The side content stuff gets really convoluted and the poor translation makes some of the core concepts less than accessible. So I don't fault them for most of the not understanding and bumbling in this game. I still yell at my screen sometimes at their absolute foolishness.

I think my favorite battle-related trend so far is that nearly every time they go to revive a downed party member, they have Bobo use Heal Beam just before bringing them back.

Testing out new magic attacks on magic-resistant enemies comes in a close second though.

I know a lot of people on here have brought up Ryan's and Pat's faults with understanding this game, and I've nailed this down to two possibilities:

A) Patrick and Ryan literally lack the cognitive function to pick up games at the average pace.

B) They fumble around and mess up on purpose for entertainment.

I have never played a JRPG in my life, and I don't really even like rpg's in general. I barely even play video games at all compared to these guys. Yet I feel like my (and other users) understanding of this game exceeds theirs to the point that I feel like they HAVE to be doing this on purpose. Patrick is a smart guy, and he's played some games in his life. There's just no fucking way they are really trying.

yea just the basic fumbling around with the fundamentals of the battle system. this game is so easy man, you can beat everything in it with like level 20 characters. it's just shit like that, using a weak heal-all on two full characters in an attempt to bring up a dead character before they have even been revived, taking 15 seconds to choose 'cure' for no reason, etc that is making them have even the slightest trouble. they are lucky the battle speed is on default!

with very average menu surfing abilities you can literally demolish every enemy in the game by using regular techs before it causes much damage to you. when i was 9 years old i never went into the menu to heal because sheltering was enough. they do it after every single fight it's just incredible lol

oh one of my favorite things is still not putting gold stud on brono when he is their main source of damage using 12 mp every turn on confuse and running out constantly. in fact nobody is using gold stud now because it's on brog ahaha

Ryan's a bit too slow on the draw.

Also, it's not really a waste of MP if it does twice the damage of a normal attack or hits multiple dudes.

@Duffyside: Yes, but their terrible decisions haven't mattered because the game is really easy. But now they're doing endgame sidequest stuff that's a little more challenging and they're starting to feel the pressure. They wiped on the skeleton boss and gave up, died twice to Ozzie's group, and I predict death tomorrow as well. I'm actually interested to see if they can get through it, playing the way they do.

Overlooking Marle was a horrible decision, but now she can finally show off thanks to Haste.

Rust Tyrano has to be the easiest boss in the game for the point that you can fight it. He has no counters, fire damage isn't overwhelming, and his absorb HP is used rarely. I got half my attacks free using a Rage Band (Robo) and a Frenzy Band (Ayla), since his roar, while doing no damage, counts as an attack.

Playing along with ER, I finished all sidequests in about 1.5-2 hours, and just got Crono back (hour 17). He will not be in my main party...Ayla and Robo's toss combos are fantastic :D

"The good part about leveling up is that eventually things like the Gold Erng become irrelevant because you max out at 999, so a boost to healing is hopefully at some point moot because you rather have something that ..cuts your MP by 75%, or something like that." ~ Patrick

And then they proceed to put the Gold Erng on Barle, while the accessory that cuts MP by 75% collects dust on Brog sitting on the bench. Sigh.

You really should use Magus (sorry, Bagus) a lot more. He is great, and his best magic just rules. You can ignore Barley and Bucca, since you don't have time to level them up properly anyway. Take Bagus an do away with Brog.
