Endurance Run: Persona 4 - Part 129

I don't know what I'll do on rainy days after I finish diligence (or I might have done so already, I took a break to play Disgaea 3 for the first time in like 6 months).  All my stats are maxed and my fox social link is done.

No Naoto Girlfriend :(

And you should have waited till after the exams for the save but that the heck, tomorrows episode will be BIG BIG BIG.

I didn't watch 70 odd hours of Jeff and Vinny being funny whilst playing my favourite game to see them get the terrible bad ending!

The Last Starfighter reference was much appreciated.  Now, time to watch today's episode.

I'm really excited about what's going to happen during the endgame now! Especially since I don't know what to think about that "poisonous fog spreading" situation - it does make some sense if you think about all the info fragments  concerning the effects of the TV world that have already been revealed. But I just hope Persona isn't yet another RPG that is quite good midgame and then fucks up the ending really bad ... and the stupid and unmotivated "world is coming to an end" atmosphere in this ER episode seemed to go in that direction in my opinion, but we'll see, won't we?!? 
I still like the Naoto subplot quite a bit & don't mind that you're taking the friendship route .... although I think she's the hottest character ... especially after watching a certain christmas event on youtube after realizing that it's not going to come up in the ER :D

Aaaaww, Rise was the one to hug Charlie. No LOOOOVE YOOUUs this time... those awkward moments were funny, but that was refreshing.

No Naoto Christmas Event. Thou shall regret! :-(

 I loved you two making fun of the health care debate. When Vinny said "great guy" I thought, "One of you is going to say Glenn Beck or something." You're great.

Didn't notice it on my own playthrough, but Chie said it's "chilly" outside (6:38).  Am I the only one who finds that amusing, seeing as how she's NUL to ice? Yeah, yeah, I know I'm reading too much into it but whatever.

What a huge bummer. I guess Charlie won't be serving all the ladies.

What you can't hear in this videos is the incredibly ominous music that plays all throughout the foggy period of the game. It really bums me out.

Well, I was completely furious during that Naoto scene. Like, screaming at the past through my computer while pulling my hair. It was so painful! I have raged at these ERs before (hence my screenname), but good lord. They deserve all of the misfortunes they've had in this and Deadly Premonition.

Although I thank them for introducing me to these games that I probably never would have played (well, at least Persona. I found out about DP when Joseph from 4player podcast made it his GotY).

IF THEY DON'T MAKE IT INTO THE MEAT DIMENSION BY THE END OF THE GAME I'M GONNA KILL MYSELF!!

@iRageatERs: Erm, I don't see what the big deal is, there's no real benefit to getting in a romantic relationship with her.

How the hell are you supposed to know the right or wrong answers with some of these social links? It's completely arbitrary. Particularly for this one where the game makes a big deal about Naoto not wanting to be treated like a subordinate child. Shouldn't she appreciate fighting with on equal footing as opposed to being fought for? Goddamnit I hate jrpgs so much. *keeps watching* Thanks to GB for playing the rest of this game so I don't have to.

You have to understand Japanese culture a bit. In Japanese culture ALL women really want to be protected (controlled) even Naoto she just doesn't know it yet. Just like with yuki the right decision was for her to stay and take over the Inn even though she didn't want to. All goes back really to early Japanese philosophers Confucius most prominently. We all have places we are destined for by birth and we should fit into them. Trying to go against them is a sin against society and nature. This idea is slowly changing, but Japanese culture changes much slower than American culture. Really the Japanese would still be in a semi feudal system most likely except for world war II.

But I'm glad they did it wrong gives me a reason to play the game now, but I expected it honestly with all the hatred this part of the site directs at Japan and japanese media. Amazing for a site that got its start I think doing stuff about anime...

I wouldn't call it hatred. It's more along the lines of confused exasperation. When someone exclaims, "fucking JAPAN!" it's always with a chuckle and smile. The west loves Japan, even when they think the culture is bonkers sometimes. It loves Japan because of that, in fact.

I hope you are right but I didn't feel that way with their review of otomedius excellent (now granted this was not the best example of Japanese culture but still...they seemed to act their like this was the only stuff Japanese culture had)

Random thing I saw on wikipedia: Jeff reviewed the original Persona for Gamespot back in the day.

Can't remember him mentioning having played it on the ER though.
