Awesome, missed this earlier. I've always wanted to get into this game but I've never really tried.

I haven't watched this yet and I already want another.

Was hoping the deck would be "almost two hours of Messina round".

I bought this years ago but never even started it up because it just seemed so daunting. I feel like I would end up losing months of my life to it.

This was great! Austin did a great job not making the game seem too daunting, I've had this game installed for months but I've been putting off properly playing it because its so horribly complicated looking but this did actually help understand some of it.

If you squint your eyes just right, this game looks like a DAW

This is almost exactly how my first game of the year goes in CK2 after taking an extended break. Right down to starting in Italy and running out of money for mercs during the first holy war.

I want some mid-tier play!

I love Civ 5, but this game seems way too deep for me. Definitely a super interesting watch though.

Also, fuck Nike Town.

Hopefully they do more of this, I've had a lot of fun with CKII and watching GBEast's brand of hijinks in that setting was great!

This video seems...strange...Austin seems to be trying to teach Vinny and Alex how to play this game, yet he doesn't seem to really know how to play the game himself. He seems to have the very basics down, but little things like trying to befriend infidels and not auto-adding to plot were weird and made it feel more like he was learning to play with them and not helping them learn.

Those who like the look of the game but feel daunted - as this shows you don't need to be. The menus and systems are complex but it really comes down to role-playing as your character. It's quite intuitive to learn if you think of the game that way. It's the Sims as a strategy RPG, kind of.

Friday night and I'm ready for some diplomacy!

This just makes me wish GBEAST could do this more often.

@mrblobby64:Thanks! The tone of this was definitely inspired by this Graham Smith post on Dwarf Fortress' Adventure Mode, which does the same thing. "Hey, here is this super complicated game that you can actually have fun with even at a low level of knowledge!"

I have at least a hundred hours in this game and I still feel like I've only broken the surface. This game is the flight sim of medieval lords.

Good to have someone on the site who deals in more than just casual games for children.

Never played one of these games but that was quite an entertaining watch. I'd totally live in Vinny's kingdom, hopefully I could avoid his elaborate murder plots long enough to see him actually take over another kingdom.

Enjoy watching them play crazy games that allow them to inject their own personality into the gameplay like this. It's a lot more entertaining to watch Vinny and gang let loose in this than just watching basic platforming a la Castlevanisa which just doesn't allow the silly scenarios that Vinny can produce in games like this, or just discover in Contradiction.

This is amazing! I would love to see more of this or other Paradox grand strategy titles.

I will say one thing against this game, some of the DLC break out seems kinda rotten
