This might be one of my favorite episodes ever.

@berserk007: I might think the ads had some merit if I didn't hear from all their advertisers on other podcasts. Can't really fault the Bomb Squad for it, just sucks that there are about 6 companies that ever buy podcast ads (Squarespace, Stamps.com, Legal Zoom, etc.).

Videogames are back?

I always get the non premium version first by mistake. Though it's not horrible -- Noble on their part to commit to the No Ads to Subscribers policy, but I wouldn't mind getting ads in the podcast if they are non-intrusive as these, specially now that they are commonplace everywhere.

Let me drop information about Heroes of the Storm.

1. Talent Tree system works exactly like Jeff suggested items should work. Relevant choices presented every few levels. Talents can be more significant than "more attack." While there will be those there might also be things like "Now you're a hover siege tank."
2. Maps are each very different and have crazy mechanics to them, like collecting money to pay off a pirate to barrage your enemies or descending into a dungeon to collect enemy skulls. It's like if Starcraft 2's single player design was carried into multiplayer.
3. Matches are 20 minutes long and have less grinding and more straight up fights.
4. Team shared XP removes expectation of staying in ones lane. Heroes can do cross lane shit without "falling behind." Rewards teamwork.
5. I think last hit is dumb because having to intentionally not kill your enemies as fast as possible is completely crazy. It's mad DOTA players come to think that's core.

It sounds like a ton of fun to me. Dumbed down are not the words I'd use, I'd say it looks refined. Definitely more accessible and interesting for people who haven't played 100 hours of DOTA. I certainly want to play it and I've never had any interest in playing DOTA because it put me to sleep. Smarter. Die hards may disagree but I think Blizzard knows what they're talking about when they talk about the changes they've made. They're smart changes. They're smart people.

If you buy ground meat in Germany the default product will almost always be half pork and half beef. Same goes for processed food like frozen meatballs.

I don't always agree with Jeff, but I agree completely with his talk about RTS games and how hero characters (except Jim Raynor) are terrible, and also what he said about eating with friends. I prefer eating alone at home before I go out with friends. Eating with others is just weird and awkward.

Also, I just realized I'd be willing to pay an additional premium fee for getting ads displayed on the site if the crew would do the site ads the way they do them on the podcast. No generic banners and eyeblasters, just the crew doing the most ridiculous endorsements of various products and services.

I pretty much want to just replace my two 1080p monitors for work with one big 4K monitor. I don't see myself wanting one for gaming for some time though. That's just an absurd number of pixels to drive.
