Subway meatballs are beef. Low-quality beef, but for what it's worth, it's one of the few things I eat from there. Speaking as an employee. Turkey subs and other cold-cut subs are acceptable. Except the actual Cold Cut Combo/Trio. Don't be a fuck, stay away from that horrendous monstrosity of a sandwich.

I used to get the cold cut trio all the time.. h-how long do I have?

Used to? Lucky you're still walking.

This episode sucked.

Oh yeah! First of 2014 to complain! Good on me. Because, complaining. Right guys? It's totally the thing that's so cool. It's so cool you guys.

On a more serious note: this bombcast was good as always. Also, meatballs or just meat, for that matter, is used to describe both beef and pork in common conversation. When you're talking about meat, it can be either of the two and that's commonly accepted. If you're describing chicken, fish or even just lamb; you're expected to clarify that.

At least, that's how it is where I'm from. We also have a 50/50 blend of pork and beef meat that is used by a lot of people.

Personally though, I'm not a fan of pig. I like bacon and the occasional schnitzel, but that's about it. I don't really like meatballs made from pork, but that's just me.

Am I the only one getting sick and tired of @brad saying that there's no games announced? What about:

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition
  • Destiny
  • Titanfall
  • Watch Dogs
  • Dying Light
  • Tom Clancy's The Division
  • inFamous: Second Son
  • Super Smash Bros. 4

There's a lot of games to be excited about right now.

Anyone else remember not too long ago when 'Important Games of Last Gen' came up, Brad boasted that Gears of War 2 was 'obviously the best of the trilogy'? Now all of a sudden it's 3?

I'm sure there could've been a logical leap to that change, but I seriously doubt it.

Haven't finished it yet, but the talk of meatballs, twitter, and Brad's fantasy recliner diner had me cracking up.

So Jeff is more into the macro rather than micro game play? A true master of war then I guess. I'd love a co-op game where you could divvy that up. I for one think DOTA is interesting, but I side with Jeff on the sending waves of my men to their deaths approach to RTS. In Starcraft, when effing around, I would purposely send my legions through the biggest chokepoints to specifically attack low priority targets like supply depots or whatever. Bit me in the ass more than once, but it did force me to learn tricks for production.

EDIT - Also, @vinny I get you hate motion controls, but Wii Sports being important to Nintendo was de facto important to the whole gen. Move and Kinect likely don't exist (at least in the form they came in) without Nintendo's success. Maybe not the biggest or most exciting thing, but it was a major component of the last gen.

Unrelatedly, I like the Bombcrew's livestream trolling, but not a big fan of them doing it in the Bombcast. The first Bombcast of the year has always been a highlight (the tragedy scenarios two years ago was a personal fave). Having video of a livestream described to me on a podcast ain't quite up to that standard

Man, I would listen the fuck out of a podcast with game developers telling the stories behind games. Not the "yeah, man, we really just wanted to come up with an experience that we thought really blah blah blah" stuff that most of the Dump Truck is (as cool as that is), but the real crazy "I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW WE FINISHED THIS, I DESIGNED THE HUB WORLD ON A BOTTLE AND A HALF OF ABSINTHE" stuff.
Are there are podcasts/books/etc to this effect already?

I'M HERE TO JOIN THE CONVERSATION. This is one of the best episodes in a long time.

I'm glad the internet let's me listen to both Giant Bombcast members AND Steve Austin overall how awful the post office is via stamps.com.

Counting on @jeff to make sure Rock Band 3 and Burnout Paradise make it in the top 5 if they get around to the mythical Game of the Generation stuff. They're both in mine. Heck, RB3 is #1.

Agree with Jeff 100% on the RTS and counterstrike style having to buy your guns every time things.

In age of empires 2, there was a mod where you could play two players in one team, with the same buildings, units, and all that jazz, it allowed one player to build the units, while the other controlled them.

Brad should just stop talking about League of Legends when he has no clue about the game. They took out creep denying? Oh noes, they strip the game from all mechanics. Except they introduce other mechanics like brushes or a rune and mastery system to switch between different playstyles on the same character.

I know you have a hard on for Dota, but don't just repeat the fanboyish bullshit you hear from people.

Agreed, it's annoying when Brad dumps on LoL despite playing very little of it. DOTA 2 is not the be all end all of the moba genre, there's plenty of room for varying play styles and mechanics between games. Just because LoL streamlines some of the features from DOTA doesn't suddenly make it babies first moba.

Speaking of the "Let's try everything!" era of Mortal Kombat games on the Xbox. Did anyone play MK: Shaolin Monks? I remember a point in my life, being unemployed and (really pathetically) playing all of it.

I don't even remember if it was worth it.

Bothered me the moment he said it, and I don't even play LoL that much anymore. It seems like the dumbed down argument rests on no denying, no gold loss on death and not having to buy scrolls for shit like teleport. It doesn't seem to matter that in LoL there are way more skillshots, team fights last longer and are more intense, and the brush is a game changer. Not to mention the rune and masteries side of things.

@bulby33: brad seems to not interested in any because the games you listed are open world and seems brad gets to bored in open world games ( did not finish gta5 or did anything in Blackflag ) and also RPG games he does not care he wants mass effect or fallout, not dragon age or witchcer 3 so even there are a lot of games coming he does not want to play any of them
