The Mexico portion of the game, for as beautiful as the landscape is, was definitely super boring (minus when you first arrive and the music plays). Everything else around it, though, was absolutely superb and I'm probably in the minority here but I even loved the multiplayer at that.

There are some slow parts but Jeff is giving his impressions from playing up to the first mission.

Herding was awesome, even if you failed you saw like 20 cows run off a edge like lemmings. Plus that was the first time I saw the majesty of a thunder storm in that game.

I actually didn't mind Mexico too much. The multiplayer was okay though!

You're wrong. You're just seeing everything that annoys you about those games in this one. Happened to me with GTA IV. Hated that goddamn game.

I won my C64 in a videogames contest....best game was Archon, by far. For Amiga, Altered Destiny and Blood Money were pretty good.

For my money, The Fly has one of the greatest movie soundtracks in the history of cinema. Before the Requiem for a Dream score completely copied its style, before Howard Shore began endlessly churning out Lord of the Rings music, before David Cronenberg disappeared up his own ass, The Fly original soundtrack was always there for me, being amazing.

Standee's are awesome! I bought Quake III for Dreamcast back in the day, and the store owner gave me the promotional standee for free, because he had no space or desire to build that shit and display it in his shop. I had it in a corner of my room for a bunch of years. Until it fell apart. I hate Quake III for the record.

Hawt damn, this is a pretty great bombcast right here. Talking about all of the GOTY lists (especially Max's) and the process behind the TV show parodies -- absolutely hilarious.

In regards to the Hobbit conversation, there was totally an Arkenstone in the book. It's kind of a pivotal thing. I don't know how Brad could have missed it. Unless he just watched the animated version.

Damn. I felt like they went on for far longer than it actually was compared to the same time frame in past Bombcasts.

Seems I'm the only one who definitely does not like the new theme compared to any of the ones in the past. Not a big deal though.

As far as Jeff with Red Dead Redemption, the only point about that is it's kind of a bummer he's not another voice on the bombcast that's really enthusiastic or appreciative of a game well received by a lot of people. I think when you really love Red Dead and Jeff doesn't, there's nothing more to it than thinking "wouldn't it be nice if he did" and there was more love for Red Dead from the site. That's it, nothing more than that. He isn't wrong and there's nothing elusive about his opinion and it's not worth arguing or getting worked up about.

I think it speaks more to Jeff being such a well-loved personality and important editorial voice that there's disappointment in the lack of convergence between the audience's enjoyment and Jeff's not getting into it. That and when a game that wins GOTY awards gets love and representation from someone you really trust for games editorial, it feels good doesn't it? The next best thing is effectively voicing what it is about a game that isn't good or they don't like, which Jeff has done with Red Dead in the past but I think this happens to be an extreme example because of some additional off hand dismissals of the game and just how much people consider that game to be really great.

Geez, the tone of this next-gen discussion is downright apocalyptic.

Funny: I also watched some of Deep Cover over the weekend, at 60fps. I also didn't like The Fly, because I saw it when I was too young. And I don't like Red Dead, because they didn't bring it to the PC.

A good amount of Mexico, story wise, really wasn't good. But parts of it were. Rickets was awesome.

Otherwise it's perfect, to me. Love the gameplay so much. Story was so great and the dialogue is next level stuff. Best ending to any game. Graphics and atmosphere, etc etc. It's my game of the generation for sure.

Jeff can have his tastes but it's funny I was listening to the GTA IV GOTY podcast and he throws so much behind GTA. This is GTA on horses. It's awesome.

Anyways, SEGA totally needs to buy Relic. They bring up EA having the Warhammer license but Creative Assembly and SEGA do now. How funny would it be if SEGA was an RTS powerhouse now? Making 40k and Warhammer fantasy.
