One of the greatest bombcasts' yet! so so funny, also convinced me to buy some drank off of ebay.

Actually it took me two nights to finished listening to this one, both nights I took some of my own melatonin and Valerian root supplements and listened while I went to sleep. You may not know this but those two supplements are very good at increasing the vividness of your dreams and can aid in gain lucidity during sleep. Jeff and Ryan were both in my last dream, last night :)

Actually Ryan you pronounced  Gävle as Gay-wole wich is not correct. I´m not bashing you i know it´s hard for you to undestand our languange. Try saying Gaevle.

Gävle, for you non-swedes, is sorta pronounced like yeah-v-le. Great podcast, keep it up guys.

Great bombcast as always. Nice to see some different guests for a change, though I always welcome Alex.

I was surprised by the comments from the EGM editor on why Ziff Davis didn't try to get alternate revenue sources, citing the cherished 18-49 demographic as the core audience of the magazine and the 1up show.

The reality is that while giant bomb, 1up, IGN and others -think- they represent the majority of gamers, you guys really represent just a small niche of the gaming public: ultra hardcore dedicated fans.

Every podcast I've listed to in the last 4 months have vaunted the merits of such titles such as Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, Tomb Raider Underworld, Little Big Planet, (and others) that have all been commercial flops. Meanwhile, every single one laughed at wii fit and it turned out the be the top seller of 2008 (12 million units).

I am 45. I have personally played games since the days of colossal cave on the PDP-11 in the 70's. I still play games today and for me, the 3 games listed above (sorry, I haven't played little big planet, it JUST DOESN'T INTEREST ME) were terrible titles (I'm willing to explain my position as to why these games weren't fun to play, if you're curious).

Evidently, I wasn't the only one to think so.

Even the new Prince of Persia (which to me is one of the worst games of 2008 and NOT for the reasons you might think) will more than likely be yet another commercial flop as well. And Ubisoft and gaming podcasts will scratch their heads and probably say it was too easy and you didn't die and that must be why... (in fact it's the complete opposite: it's too hard and not fun at all). Too hard? but you get saved all the time.. ah yes, that's the problem: if it was easy, you wouldn't see Elika save you after every 3rd jump. Repetition and frustration doesn't equal fun, even if you don't die.

GTA IV came out and like everyone else, bought a copy expecting a grandiose title. What I received was a gorgeous looking game. Imagine my disappointment when I found a subpar story/dialogue and redundant gameplay (basically 2 missions repeated ad nauseam with zero originality). But I'm sure you guys must of loved it. You must of loved playing long missions only to die at some point and have to restart the whole damn thing from the beginning. 

Masochists shouldn't wonder why the average Joe doesn't enjoy hurting himself. game masochists shouldn't wonder why the average gamer doesn't like frustrating games.

lately, I've heard you guys wonder why some titles didn't sell, why others were flops, why titles which you didn't like ended up top selling games and why advertisers aren't flocking to your podcasts/magazines. That's because you're not pushing game reviews to the majority of game players: you're pushing slanted reviews on an extremely small niche market of 'hard core' fans who probably represent a few tens of thousands of people of the hundreds of millions of gamers around the world. As the gaming audience expands and broadens your marketability will continue to diminish.

All is not lost and you don't have to radically change your podcasts or magazines. To ensure your survival in the years ahead, you might consider adding a new editorial voice to your group. Someone who will speak to the rest of the gaming community, who can tell us if games are likely to be fun or enjoyable, and who knows, maybe someone who will also not be afraid to talk about such taboo subjects as iphone gaming!

And yet in every broadcast they act surprised that the games they pick as being great are commercial flops, that other magazines/podcasts are closing, that advertisers aren't flocking to them while the gaming industry keeps growing and that virtually none of their top 10 games of 2008 ended up the top 10 games people bought and played in 2008.

After reading these comments, I have come to the conclusion that many of you are stupid.
