I hate microtransactions so much. Just charge me a real one-time price, and don't have that bullshit.

I refuse to play free games 99% of the time for that reason.

All of the THQ talk in this reminds me of the fate of the Wizardry PC games where the group owning it fail to reissue or do anything with, hope that doesn't happen to THQ IPs.

Factual inaccuracies about Twin Peaks here, you don't get to know who killed Laura in season one..

David Lynch is even acting in season 2, so he didn't leave.. also season 2 aired just a few weeks after 1, so its pretty inaccurate all around here.

24 season 3 is great, what are you talking about? The stuff in Mexico drags, sure, but the last third or so of the season is the high point of the series.

I tried to play black ops 2's single player and ughhh. the characters are terrible, and everything that is happening is retarded. It's like I'm playing Rogue Warrior with better graphics and gameplay and less Mickey Rourke. They should go back to making games that are actually good like Call of Duty 4.

I don't want to get flamed, but I'm finding that 3 hour podcasts take up a bit too much of my time. I was one of those people who would be happy if the podcasts got longer and longer, but now it just seems like the amount of time to get through these things, despite all the funny/interesting moments is a bit too much. I wanna do other stuff. I like listening to podcasts while not doing much else other than eating and maybe some web browsing. I guess other people do it while they drive or work out or whatever. It might not be fair of me to want a long podcast and then complain when it's long consistently, but it's just how I feel. I guess it doesn't really matter if most people are happy with how it is.

@Aegon: I totally understand what you mean. I've made a couple threads in the past asking how other people feel, and yeah, a lot of people vehemently disagree. I find that the only real time I can manage to listen to a podcast is if I'm either driving to work (and not carpooling) or at the gym (without my housemates), and honestly, there are some weeks where I can't even manage to finish a Bombcast by the time the next one comes out. I used to have way more time when I was living at home (especially over summers) but now I just don't. As much as I like the Bombcast, I don't like my Zune being a Bombcast device.

But honestly, there's nothing we can do. Enough of the audience have plenty of spare time to listen to a three-hour podcast in one go that we're the minority and it doesn't make sense to shorten it. It's how I feel about a lot of Quick Looks too. Oh well. Still makes the drive to work fun.

@Aegon: I'm with you. The only time I get to listen to the podcast is driving to or from work, and sometimes when it's just me running into town. Being a husband and father, I can't just put on a pair of headphones to listen to a podcast and ignore the family. I'll do it from time to time, but to me it just seems rude to wear headphones and listen to my ipod while the rest of the family is around.

I thoroughly enjoy the Bombcast. I like listening to the crew's different interpretations of games and gaming news. And if they want to keep it 3 hours long, I'll listen to as much as I can get in.

Actually, listening to the Bombcast makes me wish I could have these types of discussions with my friends about games. Unfortunately, out of most of the people that I know in real life, I am the only one who plays games on a regular basis.

sounds like all that needs to change is you, duder. you don't have to listen to the podcast in a straight shot or anything. listen when you can, and if you want to do something else, do that and come back to that podcast later.

Yeah, they're slightly mistaken about Twin Peaks - Lynch stays until about a third of the way through S2, which is when the murderer is revealed and caught. He doesn't cut ties completely, and he even appears as an actor in some episodes, but he doesn't write or direct again until the final episode. Some people say that the show suffered because the mystery was solved, and it certainly does go downhill terribly after that, but only IMO because they lost Lynch as the showrunner (he wasn't happy that the network had forced him to resolve the murder - even though its a rare case of studio execs being right IMO). If they could have kept him around properly, I think the show would have been fine.

Because the resolution to the murder (indeed the whole first third of S2) is absolutely excellent, and if it had gone unsolved much longer, it would have heavily undermined Dale Cooper's status as an ace detective. So I had no problem with the murder being solved, only that it took them *forever* to get their act together again properly. Twin Peaks still had a lot to offer, and the eventual direction that the Windom Earle arc took was great, and led to one of the best season finales of any show ever made (courtesy of the returning Lynch). But it happens far too late, and by that time the show had collapsed utterly into an impossibly, excrutiatingly boring soap opera that was hardly any better than watching Dallas or Dynasty or something equally awful.

The new series of Red Dwarf seems to be the best since S6, which admittedly isn't hard given the awful, disgraceful lows that S7 and onwards sank to, but it actually does seem legitimately good again. The problem is that the cast look so old and tired now - it kind of kills it for me.

What was the deal with those 20 minutes of Black Ops 2/CoD discussion. I zoned out for about 10 minutes after it started and couldn't believe it was still going when I was paying attention again. It seemed like Brad and Vinny just left the room during that whole thing and Ryan left half way through as well. For a moment I thought I had mistakenly downloaded some old ass Podcast.

But man, duders look old. And I swear the Kryten prosthetic head design gets wonkier with every season - what happened to his nose?

Haven't listened yet, or read a single comment. But let me guess... it's a Devil-May-Crycast. Can't wait! After all, five stars is a big deal. Especially this late in the cycle.

I actually liked VIII well enough. I mean, not to the point that I think any of it stands up to the golden age of Red Dwarf, but I still thought solid steps were made in the right direction after the ponderous and protracted twaddle that VII seemed to be. Man, that series was just so bloated and tonally screwed up.

nope. no spoilers for you. also, I think that the episode where IT happens is the last episode involving David Lynch. it's all downhill from there until the awesome/batshit insane finale, which David Lynch came back for

@buzz_clik: Yeah, there is some weird bell-curve thing going on with the wonkyness factor of the head designs throughout the years. Started out really wonky, got better then got wonky again. RD is probably one of my favorite sitcom-style shows ever. Even the bad seasons were still solid it never got extremely terrible in my opinion, just rote. But keeping things from getting boring is especially hard in a sitcom-style show. Such great characters and funny interactions between them.

I nerded out so hard when they announced Back To Earth, brought back so many memories of staying late with my parents watching Red Dwarf on PBS. I went into full-on mark mode when they announced Season X, after thinking Back To Earth was fairly promising. It would be cool if they made at least one more series and attempted to close the story arc in some final way.

I will FIGHT ALL COMERS WITH A BLADE over the season 2 of Twin Peaks. Except for some of the final episode (which didn't really feel like a proper finale), I adore the entirety of both season 1 and 2. It really all comes down to characters though, because season 2 is only really worthwhile if you care about who's in that town.

If anyone is turned off by Jeff and Ryan not watching season 2 of Twin Peaks, I say fuck that, I loved it. Again, specific and I don't doubt they felt deflated after the mystery was "solved", but personally the character stuff doesn't waver and I think it's absolutely worth going through to the end. Personally I think the big misconception about Twin Peaks is that it's nothing but the mystery, which I think is patently false for me and frankly sells the show more than a bit short. This is of course someone who would say Twin Peaks is their favorite dramatic TV of all time but still, I went into Twin Peaks with Jeff's opinion in mind and didn't find it deflated whatsoever.

Back to the bombcast, while I've understood where Patrick has come from on CoD for a while now, that Black Ops II monologue/discussion went on for WAY too long.
