I stopped playing Darksiders at one point where it seemed like it got WAY TOO HARD for where i was at in the story. I came back to it months later and beat it and got some machine guns or something but I lost the groove at that point and never continued. I guess I should keep going but I find it weird no one else has ever mentioned this part. Am I just bad?

Nah, the combat seemed really unbalanced and would randomly swing in difficulty all over the place. I beat the game, but I don't understand the total adoration for it. I love Zelda games, and the recent (disappointing) Zelda games could learn a lot from Darksiders, but it's not a uniformly great game by any means. It has more flaws than strengths - more of a 3/5 if you'd ask me.

Hell yeah, Darksiders is great. It's derivative, but what it borrows it does really well. Glad to hear Patrick giving it some love.

@depecheload: Cool, so that whole part directly before it where Patrick said "let's just spoil the ending" didn't prompt Vinny? Neat.

Re: Ron Gilbert's involvement with Double Fine's Adventure game - didn't they show off some concept art of characters from him? Or is that a different project? I swear it came up again when the kickstarter thing started. I can't believe he wouldn't be involved in some significant capacity.

Gosh dang it you guys...I've played Ocarina of Time every year since its release and its design hasn't aged AT ALL. Like, it's still perfectly paced, tons of fun, varied, and is absolutely amazing. I don't like Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword because they DON'T capture what made OoT good in the first place. Also, Darksiders is an adequate copy of Zelda. I didn't love it...I had a hard time even wanting to finish it, but I did. And it has its moments, but still it'd be LOW on my list of Zelda games.

What game since Ocarina of Time has outdone it in terms of gameplay, pacing, etc? I haven't seen any game that's done that. I love Wind Waker, but it went in a different direction to avoid direct comparison.

Jeff really is a love him one minute/hate him the next on these latest bombcasts. One minute he's inexplicably tossing off the Metroid Prime games, then he turns around and does a perfect rendition of a Sleigh Bells song. LET ME FORM AN OPINION JEFF.

Yeah, he does that with amazing games now and again. Metroid Prime (the original) is one of the greatest games ever made hands down. It's freaking phenomenal. The sequels are great too, but that first one is just so dang good.

Behaving in such a hostile manner every time someone disagrees with your opinion of Giantbomb content doesn't make your point. If anything it helps to vindicate their opinions, because by comparison to your vitriol even unreasonable arguments can appear salient.

@MormonWarrior: Metroid Prime was ground breaking. It's easy to forget but that game was released in 2002 and really set the bar for that generation.

For the record, every time the Bombcast crew talks about their love of Dick's I start to salivate something fierce. Last time I was having Dick's I had 3 of em all at once, and that milkshake mhmmm, so thick and creamy goes down smooth and easy.

Dick's has the best milkshakes. A nice and tasty thick load after you gobble up some of those wieners.

Disagree about the 'Conversation List' in Amalur. I get exactly out of it, what they set-out to deliver. Yeah - there's some redundancy to the informations given in general, but they definitely succeed in giving the characters and environments more color and depth.

Many of the better sidequests start-off small and blow up soon after. I'm doing a 100% run on hard and once you overcome your 'no time to listen to this shit'-attitude, it unfolds its own charm.

Darkness 2 is so freaking good, thanks for the positive impressions! Haven't finished it, but the storytelling is as good as the 1st, and has loads of "did they just do that?!" moments.

I'm definitely going for a New Game +, the combat loop with the powers, quad wielding, and upgrades is damn good. Excellent art direction, I could stare at NY from the mansion forever. I spent hours just listening to all the dialogue from all the guys in the mansion. Digital Extremes finally have a great game to their name.

You can block counter everything in the game. I have played it so many times that the hardest difficulty is easy to me. Awesome game. The people who say it's a 3/5 or "it sucks" are just... well it's the internet.

I don't think it "sucks," it's just not that great. I recall at release that the majority of reviews for the game were average - 7.5-8.0 range. Several publications, GameSpot being one, had the same problems I had with the controls and difficulty spikes where the game felt a bit like it was biting off more than it could chew. It's cool-looking, has lots of neat ideas, but it has a lot of pacing and difficulty issues and most of the dungeons are pretty lame. I'm interested in seeing what Darksiders II is but it sounds like the developers don't want to make another Zelda clone.

Agreed with the GB crew, after recently trying in-and-out & 5 guys burger places myself a few months ago now that they are here in this part of Texas. The 5 guys burgers are more closer to something you'd see in a diner, slightly higher in what you're getting than a fast food place but not by much. Have to admittedly liking around here the stuff from Fuddruckers first (nice to get alternative burgers with wild boar or buffalo), then 5 guys then most of the fast food below it. Around here the burger places aren't that bad so it's hard to find an unappealing one but just depends really on how much time you have for them to make the burger or how long it will just be waiting in line if the place is busy.

lol at Patrick playing Darksiders, that's exactly where I stopped my save, I was like you guys are giving me a portal gun now? I can't handle that right now so I stopped playing and just look at the icon from time to time and remember the portal gun and be like I'll finish that when I feel ready :D.

I have to disagree about the Kickstarter thing being no big deal. (Nothing has changed, publishing is not going to change, etc) I feel like this is basically dismissing steam back in the day as something that will only work for valve and their games. Or the aggressive pricing on steam sales where you can buy tons of games for $5, that won't force the price of games down.

I think the kickstarter result we're seeing from Double Fine could be something useful to many other companies. With THQ going belly up a company like Relic has employees that could be faced with a choice, move under a different umbrella and try and keep working on existing IP's? (assuming they'd be aquired by someone else and that are owned by THQ currently) or basically quit and walk, start a new company, pop up a kickstarter and say we need 5 million to build a brand new ip that will be a space based RTS from the creators of the Homeworld games.

On a larger scale what if respawn had gone kickstarter instead of going under EA? The team from Infinity ward would definitely get at least $15 from me if they wanted to make a game in this way. With teams/companies that have established a good reputation with fans I think this is a very realistic option for getting funding. The bloated budgets we see on the bigger games are possibly avoidable if you don't have to worry about advertising and marketing your game because you're already in the black with the 50-100k fans that backed you.

What if double fine makes a game that is crazy successful here? Then they have to give out 50k free copies which creates great word of mouth, then 200k other buys it? (PURE PROFIT)

I want more devs to figure out a way to use kickstarter and ditch the publishing houses. The biggest AAA titles won't come from these projects overnight, and may never, but if the internal members of Blizzard walked away from the company and said we're making a new company, we want to build an MMO, and we want to raise $50 million. Then they offered something like lifetime subs on every donation over $60....you can't tell me that wouldn't go nuts.

Imagine if they had a machine where they hooked Brad and Patrick up to each other where Brad's sleepy suaveness and Pat's spazzy manicness fed eachother and evened out giving us a more invigorated Brad and a less overbearing Patrick.

Hell, have the engineers build a teleporter and give us some kind of The Fly amalgation Bradrick creature, built for Bombcasts.

The lack of love for Metroid Prime 2 saddens me. I think it might be a better game than Prime (outside of adding ammo for the guns and less impactful world design artistically speaking), but the surprise and nostalgia that came with Prime had worn off so it was slightly well less received and is therefore the least recognized Prime game. This from someone who had never played a Metroid game prior to Prime.
