@smcn@hassun@red12b I think I totally wiped that from my memory, seeing it is 4 years old. It is only 11:30AM here but I feel like I need a drink.

Man, what a frustrating episode. I already knew Jeff was crazy when it came to the SNES but...maaaaaaan. Yoshi's Island is a bona fide masterpiece. One of the very best games for the system. But to be fair, most of the best games on the SNES came out when Jeff had already moved on to the PlayStation so...I guess it's understandable?

Oh, and 3D Land is pretty cool and all but it's not THAT good, Patrick. I got 100% in it and while I had fun it was never even close to as good as the Galaxy games. Those games take me to my happy place...

Jeff dropping #truthbombs about Yoshi's Island

More like #horriblelies and #hotbullshit. I like Jeff a lot, but I've learned to ignore his opinions about most games because our tastes could not be more different.

Truth, his opinions are sometimes a bit extreme and wrong but that's fine, opinions are opinions. And I can't get mad at Jeff because he's hilarious even when he's wrong.

I think it is hilarious that Patrick can only get pissed at Jeff for the Yoshi dig (which is justified) but he can't refute any of the legitimate reasons Jeff, and Brad, brought up. Essentially he proved Jeff's point that his love of Yoshi's Island was only because of nostalgia.

As one of the crazy Canadian fans of Giantbomb. I here by throw down the gauntlet, which in Canada is just a good pair of mittens. When Dave Lang releases divekick, I challenge Jeff to a battle of the Jeff's Dive Kick fight (my name is Jeff as well). There can only be ONE!

They touch a little on the tf2/dota2 grey market at the beginning. I really wish more media outlets would expose this crazy dark area in the steam universe. I've been following it for a while now and it cracks me up how there's this digital economy out of hats and keys. You can go to websites like sourceOP.com and buy via paypal peoples in game items at a big discount (sometimes up to 50-90% of ingame cost). I really hope Brad keeps interest in trading because I'd love to see his reaction after he sees how deep this really goes.

You guys are fucking nuts about Yoshi's Island! Holy shit lol. I can't believe Jeff trashed it so hard. God, that made my stomach hurt. This is one of my favorite games of all time, and it's not nostalgia speaking. I replay the game at least once a year, and it's wonderful.

I have....I have to throw up! Oh god! MY CANCEL IS SUBSCRIPTIONS. I CAN't FIND It PURPLE ANYMORE. WHAT IS TIME WHEN? WHY DO THIS ME TO WITH IT?

Brad, I used to work at a pool and backyard store where they sold the Big Green Eggs, it is a ceramic combination grill and smoker; very expensive and only worth it if you're a grilling enthusiast.

Yoshi's Island is pure digitized charm. Even if you don't enjoy the gameplay, how can you hate on the style? It's like getting angry at a puppy frolicking in a flower field.

EVE Online is the American Dream, in that, it's a beautiful myth that doesn't reflect reality for most of the people participating in it. I wish there was a more sober portrayal of EVE Online in the mainstream games press, because there's a very meanspirited edge to much of that community even setting aside the boredom of most of the gameplay that goes unfortunately ignored in favor of the wild and crazy stories that CCP cleverly catches headlines with.

Yeah, I mean, I like parts of Yoshi's Island, and even I got frustrated listening to that conversation. "Lol, bro, not even getting into this" just comes across as a cop-out because you don't really have a legitimate answer. And there's nothing wrong with not having a cogent argument to defend a game you haven't played since the mid-90s, it's just that he shouldn't pretend it's beyond reproach, or something. It unfortunately justifies a lot of the Patrick criticism that a lot of the haters level against him, specifically that he can act like he constantly exaggerates in the weirdest of ways.

That's kind of the point, dude. Hell, EVE explicitly allows scamming and other activities that wouldn't be acceptable in any other MMO. The beauty of EVE is that it facilitates stuff like that. Why do you want to turn it into any other generic MMO? If you don't like it - don't play.

This is the farce that any defense of the status quo of EVE inevitably contains. "You just want it to turn into WoW!" When did I say I wanted it to be like other MMOs? To be generic, or easy? I don't, not at all. But the difficulty of EVE should at least be accessible as a proper game, and CCP has the frustrating tendency to not understand what they want EVE to be, which leads to years-long campaigns in the community for things like tiericide of lower level basic ships, which is only now finally being implemented, all because CPP wants to brofist their way through marketing campaigns talking about how badass hardcore "all up to the player" the game is.

That's great, but it too often excuses their own laziness and tendency to implement gameplay systems that are deliberately unfair. There is no fun to be had in that unless you're part of the privileged group of players that already has it all. I've gotten the marketing emails from CPP, going out of their way to talk about how they don't want any of those "casual" losers. The way that EVE has this incredibly defensive and hostile reaction to opening up their weird, incestuous community of "hardcores" serves no purpose, it just looks lame.

I've played EVE, quit EVE, and played EVE, and quit EVE again. I understand where you're coming from, I love the appeal, the myth of EVE is a beautiful little tale, but just because the game facilitates so much scumminess (which, like I said, basically just serves as a way to grab headlines) doesn't excuse some of the behavior of that community, and the way people talk about the "metagame" is awesome and everything until you realize that it can take over and literally ruin lives. It's like playing a game of chess with someone, and then randomly punching them in the face and calling that "emergent gameplay." Having the right to act like a dick doesn't mean it's right to act like a dick. Especially when some of the corp and alliance leaders of that game are straight-up drunken megalomaniacs. EVE Online is the epitome of Awesome But Impractical.

Edit: And the way that some people in that game treat players who prefer not to engage in any PvP? Gross. Inexcusably gross.

I'd be willing to bet Brad gets a Wii U. Give me some odds.

I love the IDEA of a Animal Crossing themed 3DS, but that 3DSXL with the cupcake look is not cutting it. Who decided that a big picture of Tom Nook was not the way to go, it's a travesty. Like a solid green matte color with a big ol Tom Nook face on the front, bam.
