Every time Jeff leads the podcast, there's something odd about it - there's a certain quiet quality to it, and the discussions are bit deeper and nuanced.

I only got lost in The Last of Us once - but it was because the game had checkpointed me forward, so I came out ahead in the end.

Started listening to this at 4am and the return of the numbers/creepy music freaked me the fuck out

I don't normally listen to this but damn Drew needs to be on it more, it is FAR more entertaining.

Oh Christ. The Last of Us will drive brad fucking nuts if he restarts every time he's spotted. It's just not designed to accommodate that sort of meticulous play. It's all about letting you adapt in the moment. You stealth two guys, another rounds a corner, spots you, so Ellie throws a brick in his face, so you rush melee him to death. Then you get shot from behind, so you rush into the nearest room, loop around, nail the prick who just shot you with a bottle, take him hostage, shoot and miss at the other guy who was rushing you because he's taken account of your hostage and sought cover. So you shoot your hostage, then get the fuck outta there and break line of sight because at least on hard, if three guys come at you, its 50/50 whether you come out alive. Its weighty, satisfying, horrific and fantastic. After slogging through three uncharteds it was an indelible surprise to find fighting folks the games saving grace early on when the plot was still mired in cliche and the characters yet to develop. Restarting when encounters go just a little pear shaped is the perfect way to sap the game both of its tension and coalescence of gameplay and narrative/character which I find (barring an unfortunate set piece and maybe five or so encounters too many) its most impressive feat.

Drew is awesome in any content he shows up in and this Bombcast wasn't an exception. I hope Drew can be part of the Bombcast crew more often.

I am so happy to hear Drew's voice - and UVB-76 within a few minutes of starting? I love this week's podcast even more than normal, and I'm only half an hour in.

My real takeaway from those early bits is that Giant Bomb needs to reinvent itself as a post-apocalyptic broadcast station. Also I would be super stoked for some Drew DCS livestreams.

And I too play TLOU like Brad. I can't be having those imperfections, I'll take maybe the last guy or two in a big room in open combat but any more and I'm restarting. Thankfully they're pretty good about checkpoints in that game.

drew should be a permanent fixture on the bomb cast or atleast cycle him, roorie and alexis through.
