Giant Bombcast 08-28-2012

I'm listening to this while watching Hurricane Isaac outside my window, because I inexplicably still have power and internet. Madness!

I don't think Mass Effect 3 should be Game of the Year either, but its one of the games that needs a proper discussion, come the end of the year. Plus, this hasn't been a banner year by any means, so who knows what is going to be in contention? Considering that Ryan felt it was okay to not play Skyrim last year, Brad may feel he has an excuse to not ever get round to this (as he seems kind of done with Bioware these days).

And whilst its good that Ryan has played Walking Dead, it doesn't really get going until episode 2 (because a large part of the appeal is having your choices carry over, but also because episode 2 is vastly better anyway). To be able to talk about it as a GOTY, you need to have played the 2nd episode IMO.

@Milkman: Why would we have a problem? Its a good game that should be considered. Winning or being on the top ten is debatable, but consideration should be given to it.

@Jeff After you test drive a bunch of cars and find the one you want go to http://www.truecar.com and find the dealer invoice price so you know what the dealer paid for the car. At that point email all the dealers in the area and get your best price. Have the guy run the credit checks, etc. When the wife an I bought a new car last year we were in an out under in hour with a brand new car and we got it way under list price, was awesome.

When you are only getting 3 possessed weapon compared to a lot of people finding 10/20/30 or more it's far beyond just luck. Heck you can buy more possessed weapons from Vulgrim alone by just paying his coins you find.

Them saying that the Darksiders 2 doesn't give much incentive to do sidequests is a self fulfiling prophecy. Guess how you get a shitload of possessed weapons and legendary weapons/items - exploration and side quests. The more hidden high quality chests you find the more you explore the higher the chance to find possessed weapons. Legendary weapons are all static, non random, some you get from hidden secrets, some from sidequests, some from bosses, some from unlocking item vaults. Again there are a bunch in the game.

Random Arena, Jade Quarry and Alliance Battles were my favourite things in Guild Wars 1. I hear there are no such things in Guild Wars 2... Disappointing.

At some point this turns into a videogame podcast, right?

I completely disagree with everything they're saying about GW2. I wish they'd have people that had a little bit of enthusiasm about MMO games.

They don't care about spoilers, unless one of the cast plays a game. Then they won't say a word, even if it's 3 years old.

Weird how they got so into talking about some random ass quick time event, oh I mean "rhythm game". I get that they're friends with people at Harmonics, so they'd be paying attention to something nobody else is, but it's the least notable game that's come out in a while. It's barely even been mentioned anywhere.

I mean, they can be into whatever they want to be into. It's just a bit odd, is all.

This is really how I got the most out of the game, so bump for @patrickklepek ! Take heed and do some side stuff! Seek out the boatman coins if you have the time.

Brad, I love you man, but I'm starting to get so frustrated listening to you complain about how the first Darksiders is too hard on the highest difficulty. I'm not that great at games and I had NO trouble with it. A couple of the bosses were a pain, but really, It's not that hard man. It's just not. You can't take a lot of hits early on, sure, but it's SOOOOOOO easy to avoid getting hit in that game. So easy. Why are you getting hit so much?! WHYYYYYYY?! Okay, I'm done. Carry on.

Urgh, MMO talk is always so freaking depressing.

Also, pretty sure the show with Nolan North that Brad was talking about is Pretty Little Liars. Though it's more of a supporting role and he hasn't been on much this season. Imagining Brad watching this is super funny to me.

My PS3 used to do what Patrick's did with the patches and stuff. I ended up disabling the media servers and it would download just fine.

Now, it works fine though, so I'm betting it had something to do with my router or something.

I think CBS is gonna swipe up all these great show idea before USA can get them.

I was so hoping this Nolan North Burn Notice thing was real. IT WOULD BE THE GREATEST.

Also, I used to watch Psych all the time. The "Dual Spires" episode is great. As is the episode where they infiltrate a Spanish language soap opera.

Happy that Brad thought it was best to just casually throw out that Walking Dead spoiler out of the fucking blue. Bad enough saying one character is alive (implying they can die), but then immediately going on to say who else can die in whatever situation? WTF dude....

Even more weird is that Ryan didn't figure to edit it that bit out.

yep its a matter of opinion, i played the beta and thought that game was fucking boring, and the voice acting was atrocious

I know they don't like Dark Souls, but not even mentioned the PC version getting released was a bit weird.

oh come on ... EP1 is almost 6 months old now. If you didnt play it by now thats your problem.

Yeah, i'm not super bummed myself since I probably won't play those, but I was kinda shocked when brad dropped that super specific spoiler of what sounds like an important moment in a story-driven game.
